i am looking for a supressor for a .45 acp.
i would like to be able to use the standard sights on my 1911.

kinda thinking about getting a silencerco osprey, what are my options that would be similar?

Osprey 45, TiRant 45, and Octane 45 are apparently the best of the best. I don't think the Octane is out yet, though... and the TiRant definitely won't let you use standard sights. I think even with the Osprey it's just about even with the sights.

Standard height sights are fine with any pistol can as long as they are not flat black like the can.  Just line up the three dots like you would if the can wasn't there.

I own and use the Osprey

I like it very much, but I had to put an optic on my 1911 as the sights were just a tad low

Yeah, I can see from your avatar how that works for you

I'm filing them down just to spite you.

Tall sights are preferable, but not necessary.

I know the OP said he already bought the Osprey 45 (a good choice) but I wanted to comment to the post quoted below...

This is VERY true.  I have threads archived, I am sure, where I was stressing over the sights from my Glocks to my 45 host (I tend to buy my cans before I have the host).  This was told to me and, at the time, I just had a hard time believing it (lol).  But after shooting suppressed I can honestly say that taller sights just suck (excluding models in which it is designed, like the FNP 45 Tactical used in his avatar).  They make holsters more difficult to find/work with...and they look goofy, IMO, when not shooting with a can.  Shooting "through the can" is an easy and natural alternative.  I went with a TiRant 45.

At the least, don't dump your money on raised sights (like I was considering doing...).

Congrats on the buy!

EDIT to add: Albeit the above is a personal preference and my eyes won't work the same as the next guys but the advice that said what the above quote says was given to me and it was enough for me to just wait until the can came in before dumping the money...and I am glad I did.

im building another 1911 to be used solely as a supressor host. i don't plan on shooting it without the supressor, im wondering, how hard is it to shoot instinctively with a supressed pistol?

I find it the same as an unsuppressed pistol, though I have only recently gotten a 1911 host put together. With my P220 and G21 & G30, and H&K USPc/T, instinctive shooting with the can really doesn't seem to make any difference. I run a .45 Osprey, currently, but am assembling money and paperwork to pick up a .45 Ti-Rant as we speak. My experience, FWIW.
