Finally picked up my GemTech Trek on Friday.  I like that it has a short length but since I am cheap and did not get the titanium it is heavy.  I fired five rounds at the dealers shop into a bullet trap.  It is a closed in area and I did not use hearing protection.  I was actually surprised at how quiet it was especially being indoors.  I had no ringing in my ears or any temporary reduction in hearing.

I took it to the range on Sunday.  I put it on my Ruger 10/22 first (I know it is for .223) with CCI standard velocity.  It was Hollywood quiet.  There is so much room to trap gas it felt like the bolt was barely cycling.  I shot about 75 rounds of the CCI.  I then switched it to my S&W M&P 15 chambered in 5.45x39.  I then shot 120 rounds through the Trek.  I shot about 20 rounds at a time, took a quick break then shot again.  I did not use hearing protection and had no ringing in my ears.  I would not want to shoot all day without hearing protection but you could.  It did not have a DB meter.  Just from my son and I listening it was not as loud as a high velocity .22lr but not as quiet as a .22 short.  Somewhere right in the middle if that makes sense.  The main thing that surprised me was how loud the bullet impact was.  You can hear the impact well with the noise reduction.  We were shooting at various steel targets and a rock that was about 100 yards away.  The impacts are like violent mini explosions.

As the suppressor started to heat up I started getting some blow back of gasses in my face.  I am a lefty so probably more than a right handed shooter would.  After 120 rounds the Trek was molten hot.  I did not dare put water on it because I thought it may crack or warp.  I also did not try the Trek wet because I was afraid over-pressure might cause it to blow up or bulge.

I have not seen a full review on the GemTech Trek yet so I thought I would add this.  I highly recommend  this suppressor especially for $500.  Let me know if you have any other questions about it.  I will try to get some video next time I go.

How does it mount?

It's a thread mounted can.  Mounts where your muzzle device screws on.

Im waiting on my Trek Ti. Ive handled it already in the shop, cant wait to shoot it.

Im putting mine on a 10.3" SBR so I expect it to be alot louder than 16" barrel would be.
