I just recieved my SCRC mk25. Its a heavly overbuilt silencer for sub machine guns.

I have a local SOT who can rebuild cans with his own monocores. I'm debating on turning this can in to a monocore for .308 use.

Is there any reasion that I cant turn a 9mm can in to a .308 can?

is the outer tube made of Aluminum

I don't think you can if the tube is Aluminum. Most rifle cans are either Ti or SS and I don't thin Aluminum can handle the pressures. I talked to SRI and they can convert my YHM Wraith XL (Aluminum) can to handle .300blk but said it couldn't handle .308 because of the tube.

The ATF doesnt take kindly to changing silencer calibers.

Yup, its aluminum. didn't even think about that.

Its a giant can, as long as my lower arm.

Whats the best way to clean one of these cans? I BELIEVE they can be taken apart but not knowing the design I am leary of unscrewing anything and possibly causing baffle strikes. It looks like it uses a standard sten mk5 barrel thats ported, after the ported barrel there is 13 or so baffles.

A new gun shop opened up in town, they have a sonic cleaner. Will it be acceptable to dunk the whole can?

A 9mm YHM Wraith XL will already shoot subsonic 300blk.....right from the factory.

Who said anything about changing calibers?  If it were a steel tube can there's not reason he couldn't have it re-cored with a stronger baffle stack with the same diameter bore (9mm) and still shoot .308 through it.  Sort of a moot point now since it's made of AL.

How big is it in diameter? I bet a good silencer smith could make an internal sleeve for it out of SS or titanium (kind of like the Silencerco Sparrow) and then put your baffles or monocore inside of that.

With the time and money it would take to do that you might be better off just purchasing a dedicated .30cal can and waiting the 5-6 months.

Well see how it shoots.

I just wish I could find somebody who has experiance with this model. I believe the barrel is threaded in two locations that screws in to the end cap and a baffle. I believe to take it down you have to remove the muzzle end and take the baffles out the front.

It sounds like theres sand inside there, I'd like to clean it out.

Yeah that's a dedicated Sten suppressor there.... I would just buy a new suppressor for .308 and leave your Sten alone.
