I'm waiting for two stamps right now and I have considered putting a third set of paperwork in the mail.

I do not have any centerfire rifle suppressors, but one of my pending stamps will be for a 10.5" SBR.  I would eventually like to suppress that rifle.  Of course, these things being expensive, a single do-it-all can would be nice.  Obviously, there's a weight and performance tradeoff in there.

Rifles that I would consider using a suppressor on:
* 5.56 - 16" midlength KISS - current primary HD rifle
* 5.56 - 10.5" SBR (stamp still pending) - will become primary HD rifle
* 6.5Gren - 20" HBAR precision

I do not have any modern .30 cal rifles at this time, and I don't see myself buying any in the near future.  I don't reallly have a use/need for a .30 cal can, but I would use a 6.8-class suppressor on the Grendel rifle.

I noted that the Surefire FA68K is the exact same as the FA556-212, besides the baffle holes being of the larger diameter.  What I don't know is how that affects the performance when you use it on sub-caliber 5.56 rifles.
I'm also assuming that the 5.56 muzzle devices will also fit the FA68K as well as the 6.8 muzzle devices.  Is that correct?

If you were in my position, would you:
a) Buy the FA68K and use it on all 3 rifles
b) Buy the FA556-212 for just the 5.56 rifles and worry about suppressing the Grendel at a later date
c) Get a .30 cal can just in case I ever get a non-C&R .30 rifle
d) Forget moving the can around, and get a different, dedicated can for the SBR alone
e) Surefire sucks, get a ___________
f) Wait until all your stamps come back before writing checks for more
g) Put a 9mm barrel on the SBR instead, and then get a 9mm can - forget the 5.56 and Grendel for now

I would get a .30cal can just for the versatility.  You're already going up in weight from a 5.56 can (16oz for the FA68K, 19oz for the FA762K), might as well make it the most versatile can possible for your money.

As you mention, suppressors are expensive, and you might buy a .30cal rifle down the line that you want to suppress.  I personally would want to be prepared for that eventuality, but just because cans are expensive and the wait is stupid long.

That's why I'm still undecided.  The .30cal can is longer and heavier, but the 6.8 can is the same size and weight as the 5.56.
For Surefires, at least.  Other companies seem to incur a weight/size penalty going from 5.56 to 6.8.

I also thought that maybe I want to rig up the SBR in .300BLK?  Ammo cost has come down a lot recently, but I'm still hesitant to add another caliber to the stable.  I already have two AR chamberings to worry about, and adding a third is going to mean a lot more in stored ammo costs, you know?  I'm just not sure.

But if the performance of 5.56 through the 6.8 can is good, then I'm still thinking that's the best choice.

5.56 performance through a .30cal can or a 6.8 can is a touch louder.

If you're thinking .300blk (and if you reload, it's a great idea IMO), you have made the decision for a .30cal can IMO.
