Do you guys have this same problem?

I have a 3-lug and 1/2x28 adapter for mine and constantly have problems separating the 3-lug adapter from the collar that fits into the can so Ic an use my threaded adapter.  The knurled part that unscrews from it is too small to get a grip on and either just the entire collar comes out of the can or the rear part of the 3-lug mount just comes off.

It leaves me unable to swap the two on the fly, unless I can fire a few rounds out of the 3-lug and heat it up a little bit and get them unstuck.   I have tried anti-sieze but it only works for a short time.  The only remedy i can think of is just buying another collar to fit into the can and put that on my threaded adapter so i can just swap the whole thing and not bother separating it from the 3-lug, but gem tech doesn't list it on their website for sale.

Anyone else have this issue or a remedy?

I see what you mean. I haven't had a problem with that. I try to tighten the 3lug
as much as I can.
But just in case it happens to me then what would happen if we locktight
the 2 pieces? Is there any reason to dissasemble the 3lug? I'm gonna ask gemtech.

I have a different problem when trying to separate my threaded 1/2x28 adapter
reason why I'm getting the Long patterned one.

Even if you locktite the two pieces of the 3-lug you could still run into the same basic problem I have of not being able to separate the whole assembly from the collar.

Yeah, and I would guess you would want the two other peices to seperate as I often clean and regrease the piston in there.  It gets pretty nasty.   I sent gemtech an email to see if I could just get another collar to mount on my threaded adapter, so I could remove the 3-lug as a whole piece with the collar attached and not worry about having to separate the two via that super thin knurled rim.

Funny, I've got the same problem.  I've just been using a strap wrench to get it out of the can, but I guess it's not that practical on the fly.

ETA:  Maybe Kel or JStoner can chime in...

I never have a problem getting the whole piece out connected to that collar that fits in the can.  Im thinking if I just cut my losses and get another one of those collars for my other adapters I may never have to deal with separating them again.

I haven't had this issue with my Multimount.

I did have the issue pictured above with my Trinity however.  I resolved it by putting several drops of blue lock tite on the threads the 3 lug attached to & anti seize on the threads that screwed into the can.  When I needed to clean/grease the spring & retainer I would heat the 3 lug rear cap with a torch & take it apart (ove glove & rubber coated channel locks).  I would then perform the maintenance & re-assemble.  I continue to do this currently - and have since 2006 without issue.

Do note this is a solution I came up with & implemented on my own.  It's always best to contact the manufacturer directly (I prefer to email on tech questions like this).  They have a good staff that is knowledgeable & helpful.  If you're looking for a fast answer I'd just call their main office & request technical guidance.

Hope this helps =).
