Hi,
I'm fairly new to suppressors. I got my 7.62 YHM can, mounted it on my 6.5 Grendel. Works great, very quiet, etc. I didn't realize how much gas blast I'd get in my eyes. I was going to get a gasbuster charging handle, then decided to get s switchblock. It works great at reducing blast in my eyes, but I was really surprised at how dirty the magazines and other innards got. I am going to change to a piston system. If I put the switchblock on a 5.56, will I still get all the fouling? If so, I'm going to sell the switchblock, as I'm too lazy to do all the cleaning. Thanks! |

The dirt in the action and mag comes from the blow back through the barrel/chamber when shooting with a can not the gas tube. The piston system will still be just as dirty when shooting with a can as the blow back of dirt still comes through the barrel/chamber. I dumped the money on a piston gun and found out the hard way.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to deal with the fouling. I appreciate the advice, as it will save me money. |

This man speaks the truth. Understood; and I have noticed that the gime from the chamber even makes its way into the magazine to coat the unfired rounds. However, wouldn't a piston theoretically still offer an advantage? Wouldn't a piston be more reliable for extended shooting sessions, given how much crap gets blown back through the chamber with BOTH systems? |

Its odd, I seem to get MORE junk in my mags with the 6.5 and switchblock, than I do with my 7.62x39 and standard gas system. The Grendel seems quieter to me that the 7.62x39, which I though would be the other way around.
I hope to learn all I can from you guys so I don't waste a lot of $. I just got the 5.56 mount, I have a piston gun I will try it out on this weekend. |
