So I'm going to purchase my first ever supressor soon and I had a questions about Centerfire Rifle Supressors

I plan on buying a .30 cal supressor to use on multiple rifles from .223 ARs to 7.62x39 as well as .30 cal hunting rifles

I'm looking at the Gemtech HVT and Sandstorm models by Gemtech...well because they're from Idaho and I like that

My question is if a non-user serviceable .30 cal suppressor would be negatively affected by shooting some dirty ammo through it such as Wolf (thinking 7.62x39 here)

Do you guys stick with clean shooting ammo with your .30 stuff or can I go shoot Wolf/Brown Bear/Herters/Tula stuff and not worry?

Thanks guys!

I generally try to stay away from dirtier ammo (cost isn't an issue for me).

That said, there are way's to clean the can if you do. Sonic cleanin comes to mind and it should be safe for the HVT.

Just a quick note on sonic cleaners.  We've been doing a lot of testing with them and they will take the finish right off the outside of the can.  They won't actually damage anything other than the finish - but I don't think that's acceptable to most people.

You can fill them with solvent and let them soak, which will work fine as long as you're using jacketed ammo.
