I placed my order for a SWR Octane 9 yesterday. This will be my first suppressor!  Now the eternal wait begins...

Are you buying these from Major Malfunction  ? I'm trying to find out what his price is.

Use to you could order directly from him but I guess he's a distributor now. My local shop orders from him and when I asked Brian what HIS price was he said itwas better to go through my dealer.

The way I understand it the entire first run was sold to one dealer and SWR refers you to him so your dealer has to mark it up over the first run dealers price.  Not a great deal since there is basically one source for the silencer and its not the manufacturer.  Glad to see takedown 9mm silencers taking over the marketplace.

Depends on if it's the HD (all SS) or not. The standard (ss first baffle and lighter) Octane 9 cost me $550, (well below the ACC Tirant I was looking at).  The Octane 9 is supposed to be quieter than the older Trident which is  a quiet/awesome 9mm can to begin with! (I've shot this can and it's sweet but not take apart)

They are shipping in batches as they go, shouldn't be long and some dealers can get it from the main dealers who get them first. The heavy  HD is popular but the lighter standard should be easier to get.

Great choice either way!

$550 is a good price compared to $650 MSRP. I may buy one this summer even though I already have a Trident.

I have been debating on whether or not to buy a tirant.  After this thread and looking at the price I think I have changed my mind.  + it's a pretty local manufacturer.  I bet it's not an hour drive.  I think I will call my dealer in the morning and see if he can't find me a octane HD.    Appreciate it fellas.

Well I called my dealer and placed an order for the Octane 9 HD.  he told me it would take between 2 to 3 weeks for him to take delivery.  $720 for it sounded like a good deal to me.

Not bad.  That's about what it would cost, after you pay your dealer the $50 for a transfer, to get one from MM.

I paid $880 for one with a fixed mount included.

The $720 price included the fixed mount/piston.  I went by his shop after work to go ahead and get the paperwork rolling to save a few days for when he recieves it, and I asked him if he placed the order yet.  SWR told him they had it in stock and would have it to him as soon as the BATFE approved the transfer forms.  He told me again it would be about 2 to 3 weeks.  Hopefully it will not take 2 and a half months for my transfer form to get approved this time.  I was wondering if I sent a month old stamp in with it if it would speed the process up any.  I think I'll try it.

John,

That is 100% incorrect.

M3 offers SWR Dealer Pricing.

He is a distributer, this is the way it works.

I guess I should complain that I need to buy Glocks from RSR.

Matt, what other distributors have this can in-stock?

Are distributors required to sell only to dealers? Or can they sell to individuals. Using RSR as an example, RSR will not sell to individuals, even though their FFL allows it.

BTW, you are really missing out on some nice 100+ temps here in Arkansas. Being from Texas though I enjoy the cooler temps up here in the north.

Guess people are still use to buying directly from the Major?  It was news to me when I saw several threads where people couldn't get a hold of him & then found out they had to have their dealers order from him at a mark up???  Or did I miss something?

Edit:  It is really exciting to see user serviceable suppressors becoming popular.  The demand has been around for a while.

This is getting "off topic" from Octane 9, but to answer your question - we still do "end user" sales, but we try to support our dealer network as much as possible.  If you're near one of our dealers, we'd prefer that you just get the can from them.  If you're not near one of our recommended dealers, then we can still sell the can to you and transfer it to whomever you'd like.

Now back to the Octane - first batch is supposed to ship to us today!  We'll have Form 3s in late next week and they'll be out to dealers about 3 weeks after that!

We'll post a full review and sound test of the Octane 9 and the HD on Silencer Forum soon after the cans arrive.
