I have been offered a used AAC Scarab. Can is in like new condition but unknown round count.
Its been offered to me at $300.00 plus the NFA tax of $200. I cant find much info on the can as
it looks as they are no longer making them.

My questions

Is this a good can?
Can it be shoot both wet and Dry?
Is it worth the money?
Is it full auto rated?
Can it be taken apart and cleaned?
What did they sell new for?

Is their anything elsa that I should consider

Thanks

If it were me I would contact AAC to get their opinion.

The Scarab's an excellent can––I forget what DB reduction it had, though. It's a bit heavier, made out of SS. You can't take it apart, though, and they were selling for around $350 when they were being made. AAC will have more info––give them a call.

For $50 more you could get a SilencerCo 22Sparrow.  I'd pass.

Plus, Major Malfunction has stated that within a couple weeks a seriously badazz new .22 can will hit the market.  He won't say which manufacturer or give any other details, but he's recommending prospective .22 can purchasers hold off until then.

I bet this new .22 can coming that mm speaks of will have been influenced by the Sparrow.  The Alpine is a similar but different new unit thats  a good choice too.  I'd pass on the scab as $300 is what the original owner probably paid and it wont be quieter than the best takedown units mentioned.

I have a special Scarrab..Will only fit on my 41 upper..Tried to make it work with an adapter for my other cans but not worth the hassle and just gonna start over..Sell both the barrel and can..(I'm a Kodiak/Essence Junkie)There are two versions of the Scarrab..One with a steel tube and aluminum baffles and all aluminum..Second quietest I've ever heard on a pistol..

I swear I saw a verion that was steel tube and baffles but that my have been another "one" off deal..

I have one of the all stainless ones.  It is a great can but I wouldnt pay 300 for a used one when cleanable ones are so available now.  It seems to be able to increase the accuracy of the hosts that I put it on.  Probably this is because of its weight.
