I just wanted to know if buying a wrap for a suppressor is a worthwhile investment (particularly on a frequently fired AR).  Do they hold up well?  Do they prevent burns if skin contact is made?  What's a good brand to buy?  Who sells em?  Thanks.

I only use a wrap for my precision rifles because of mirage on the optic (semi/bolt).

Two company i recommend are:

http://www.riflesonly.com/store/TAB/sas.html

or

http://www.eliteiron.net/elite-iron-suppressor-wraps.html

Neither of them are recommended for sustained fire tho

I was curious about these for the use as the OP stated as well.  The warning from TAB seems like it'd be a no-go.  Eliteiron's seems like it might be okay, being in a semi-auto setup, but who knows.

TAB SAS

Warning - .223/5.56 cal use:
Our current products are not reccomended for long strings or rapid fire use with a .223/5.56 caliber rifle.

EliteIron

Please use Elite Iron Suppressor Wraps as they were intended. They are not intended for sustained full auto fire, although limited full auto fire is acceptable.

I use a TAB cover on my 30cal can. I don't shoot long strings of fire with the 308 bolt gun, but sometimes will with the can on a AR. I haven't had any trouble with it, I don't know how hot a 556 can shooting 556 gets though.

Well, it won't be sustained full auto fire but, it will definitely get hot as I enjoy a combat drill or two.  I just don't want to burn my legs when I sling my rifle.  Think elite iron would be good for that?

I also soak mine in water prior to shooting much, I only use it to knock down mirage most of the time. I would still be worried about it burning my leg though as the barrel also gets pretty hot as the suppressor can't radiate heat very well anymore.

I bought a tab cover for my SPR/M4.  I'm glad I did because if the mirage has been pretty terrible without it.  I haven't had any issues, but I haven't been doing mag dumps either.

Dont know if they will work or not, but you could be a test dummy. Looks like enough for 2 cans also if the diameter is the same.
