Hey All -

I just picked up my new KAC NT4 from my dealer today. I took it home and mounted onto my MK18 clone that already had the NT4 mount installed. I followed the instructions, but it seems that there is a some rotational movement. It doesn't move up or down, or left to right, but it can be rotated a decent amount clockwise when looking at the suppressor from the buttstock end. My question to those of you who are familiar with this can is, is that normal? I don't want to take my new and first can to the range this weekend only to have a baffle/end cap strike because it wasn't mounted correctly. Will this rotational "play" become less and less as the carbon builds up?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Perfect...that's exactly what I needed to know. I just didn't want to destroy my new supressor because I was doing something wrong. It seems like you have expierence with this can. Does it lose some of that play after a while?

No for whatever reason KAC left that in the design.  It may have been because the slight, random rotation in use helps keep the suppressor from binding with carbon to the mounting system.  I'm sure they can hold closer tolerances because they make all the parts and have excellent equipment, so there would have to be a reason they wanted to leave the cam out pin where it is- allowing some rotational play.

It may be that the cam out system would not work with zero play when fouled- I'd imagine you first have to get rotational movement, before you can hope to get movement on the bore axis to remove the suppressor from the mount.

Thanks for the info GreenO...I assume you agree with the previous poster that the play is normal and there is nothing to worry about?

The slight rotational play is absolutely normal.  One KAC NT4 will be the same as every other KAC NT4.    They've made 40,000, so no doubt the manufacturing has been standardized down to small details and fixtures have been made for fabrication.  I read somewhere that they robot weld it.  I can't verify if that is true or not (obviously if they do, they are using mig wire feed robots for some of the welding), but it would stand to reason with 40,000 produced that robot welding would make sense.

Like the others have said - some rotation on an NT4 is totally normal.

Your welcome for the business Bryon. I will be buying more suppressors from you in the future. I had another question for folks with knowledge regarding this can. I also have the PWS Comp/KAC Mount that is supposed to work for this can. I tried to mount the can to it last night. I was able to get it on the mount but noticed that it was more difficult to close the gate on the mount and that there was absolutely no movement. The gate was also very difficult to open up to remove it from the PWS Comp/Mount. Is this normal for this mount, or are they not G2G?

Somewhat off-topic-ish, so I'll answer the original question first -

Yes, the rotation is normal.

Does anyone know if anyone carries the B.E. Meyers Flash Terminator NT-4 mount as a distributor?

Thanks,
