| Thoughts on performance and price head to head. |

$100 price Maj Malfunction said the Spectre is built like a tank. Yeah, it weighs a bit more but it's only 4oz That 4oz is a lot hanging off the end of a muzzle of a handgun. Rifle, not so much. I have both. With the new core, I prefer the Prodigy over the Specter in all applications except full-auto. The Prodigy is full-auto rated, but I just feel like the Specter can take more of it, and seems easier to clean after a FA session. |

As far as the Spectre and Prodigy, they are both great cans. The Prodigy is lighter, and the Spectre uses stainless steel which doubtless has greater wear life than aluminum, albeit will likely look worse sooner. Unfortunately stainless finishes will scratch, wear, or flake and Hard Anodizing will look good for quite a long time. So it's a toss up. Depends on what you're more paranoid of- something eventually years and years later wearing or wearing out or something looking worse for wear sooner. A full stainless checkmate is 2DB louder on pistols and competitive on rifles and is $200 cheaper, which I think is noteworthy. I prefer the aluminum tube models which weigh 5.9 ounces to the stainless models that weigh 9.5 or so, but there is obvious allure to all stainless components. Some people won't buy anything that isn't all stainess steel, and that's why we make them that way. |
