I had an ffl tell me once my supresor paper work went through I can order my supressor and have it shipped to my house, is this true or does it still have to go through a dealer?

It needs to go to a dealer and transferred just like a normal firearm.

Needs to go through a dealer unless you purchase it used in state from another person like yourself.
You can send and receive a can in the mail if its yours already.

So the best thing to do would be to fill out all the forms and use a dealer in my state? That way when the forms get approved i can walk in there and pick it up. if not Id have to buy it from a dealer then have it transferred to my ffl and then have him transfer it to me? And if i had it sent to my ffl on the paperwork who do i put as the transferee me of the ffl? And the transferor is the buisness its comming from?

IF new...
You can ONLY buy it through a Class 3 SOT dealer in your state. Regular 01 FFL can not help you what so ever.
You pay for can...C3 Dealer sends his paperwork out, it gets approved by ATF, then it gets transferred and shipped to him...then and only then can you fill out paperwork to transfer it to you. There is no short cut.

Yes...if you are buying it used out of state, then you may be looking at paying the extra transfer fee to get it in your state and in your dealer's hands. Just depends on the deal.

If the can is not in your dealer's hands or in state already on a F4...then you have no business filling out anything. You C3 dealer will help you when it is time.

Honestly, if it is that confusing to you...I would tell you to go to a local C3 dealer...tell him what you want...let HIM order it and tell you how much.

Im going to pick a new dealer for this cause like i said my usual ffl gave me the bad info. I think silient bob on here from upstate armory group was selling supressors at the last gun show I may have to chat with him at the next show since he is in state and even though my dealer is class three he doesnt have a clue when it comes to supressors.

So if I find a used one in my state fill out the form 4 and pay the tax. But what about the ffl numbers and other things on the form 4.  What are the steps if I purchase from a private person?

Call Jason from Upstate Armory and he will explain everything to you.

What kind of suppressor are you looking for?

Yhm looks like a great one. Ive seen the tests comparing it to the aacm41000 and it was even with yhm commin out on top sometime and for 510$ half to a third of the price of the latter i think im going to get it in screw on version.

Just remember that most local places don't stock suppressors and if they have any they are usually spoken for.

I decided on the AAC 762 SD since I can use it on everything from my Rem 700 308 to my shorty AR15s.

The YHMs really are pretty heavy when you hold them side by side with other manufacturer's cans.

Most local places will let you take a look at and feel the suppressors they have even if they are spoken for.

Spend the extra few hundred dollars and get what you want.

I also have a good local lawyer contact if you are looking to do a trust.

I'm in the Charleston area. I don't own a YHM can, or an AAC M4-1000, but I'm sure someone local does and would be willing to let you play with them if you wanted. Might help sway your decision from one to the other.

As far as 5.56 cans go I do have a heavy thread on Tac16, and an M4-2000 Mod 08. I could definitely show you just why people say stuff like 'buy once, cry once' or 'save for a while and spend a few hundred more on something better'. Can also show you how much of a pain in the ass thread on is compared to QD. Also have some .22lr cans(Tac52, Spectre), and a 9mm(Trident) can you could try out.

As far as purchasing a suppressor goes I can either explain it all to you, or take you to the local dealer I use(that myself and almost everyone else hates) that takes care of the process for you - you just pay for the item - they do the rest.

1. You must buy THROUGH a local dealer.
2. He Must have it transfered to him BEFORE you can start your paperwork.
3. You must pick it up in person from your personal dealer on his premisis and not away from it once your Form 4 is approved.
4. Yes a trust can be faster AND cheaper AND more flexable in the future as to who can posses it.
