I'm thinking of buying a 9mm upper with a 5" Tros barrel and a 9" YHM rail to put my Trident on.  For those of you with similiar setups, any regrets?  Love it?  Hate it?

You getting a thread mount or a 3-lug?

If you get a thread mount, it is very possible to unscrew the can from the mount, leaving the mount attached to the barrel.  This is kind of a bugger if your handguard is longer than the barrel.  Makes it kind of tough to get at the mount to remove it.

If you are getting a 3-lug, it should be fine.

I initially had a 9" rail on my 5" TROS 9mm upper setup but changed it for a 7" DD M4 rail.
The M4 had the necessary clearance for the Trident.
It's easier to install and remove the Trident and I think it looks better.

Before w/9" rail...

After w/7" rail...

It comes with a three lug mount.  I agree the 7" looks better.  That may be something I would change.

One other thing you might do is try handling guns with those setups.  I found that the longer rail added noticeable weight, with no significant benefit (other than aesthetic).

I have a pistol forend, and a carbine forend.  I tried both, plus I've tried joining the two together.  It looks good with the can underneath, but makes it a bit muzzle heavy.  And as I've noted, with a thread mount, you may end up with the mount stuck on the barrel under the handguards.

I finally just went back to the pistol-length rail.  I might go with a slightly longer rail some day, but first I would need to get a 3-lug mount, and semi-permanently attach a 3-lug adapter to the barrel.

Just a suggestion. Do yourself a favor and replace your barrel w/a TROS 3-lug and put a 3-lug mount on your suppressor. You'll not regret it and won't look back.

My setup w/the 7" M4 rail balances out perfectly.

I have a RRA 9mm upper, TROS 5" 3-Lug barrel, KAC 7" FF RAS, and a Gemtech Multi Mount 9 w/3-Lug adapter mount that really balances out well, and I really enjoy it alot. If my pic'r taker was here, I'd post a pic of it? I'll try to get one posted later today?

Not as quiet as expected for the shooter (no hearing ptotection needed at all/IMHO) very pleasant to shoot, but almost "scary" quiet for the spectator standing to the side or standing behind w/147gr Speer Lawman & 158gr Fiocchi ammo? AR15 port noise, for the shooter, you just can't get away from? YMMV

That is a sweet setup.  What kind of mags will the RRA magwell insert run?

I like my 6" brl with spctr length rails and YHM 9MM XL..

Just be mindful of the fact that YHM rails are very heavy....probably the heaviest and widest on the market.  Be sure to handle one with longer rails before going that route as the balance will be affected.

Great setup, J_M_C, with the DD rail!  I like the DD rails a lot.

Thanks.
I was glad that I swapped out the RRA (YHM) hg for the DD.
It shoots/runs as good as it looks.
