I searched and suprisingly found nothing. I don't know where else to put this.
Anyone want to give me the basics. How do I hold the barrel without scratching the hell out of it? |

You need either barrel blocks or (assuming this is an AR15) an upper receiver block. Stick the barrel/upper in the appropriate block and clamp it in a vice. If installing a flash suppressor that required a specific torque, a torque wrench is likely a good idea.
