Hey guys, just getting ready to start a new build that will be used with a suppressor.  First off, does barrels make a differance? I.E. Chrome lined vs Stainless.  Ill be running a 14.5" 1-8 or 1-7 twist as it sets now with a Surfire FS556k adapter and 556K Can.  PRI Gas Buster and Zero Fail BCG.  Also is a Adjustable Gas Block like the one PRI has out a good thing to have or just extra shit? Thanks in advance guys.

I don't think barrel material matters. I'd get chrome lined instead of stainless because I don't see the application for stainless in my life.

I have PRI gas busters on all my ar15s; they should be standard issue with suppressed ar15s.

I don't see an application for an adjustable gas block, unless you're shooting reduced-power loads and want to keep the rifle cycling or the ability to shut off the gas system.

Be sure any barrel you get is threaded for a suppressor - ADCO has a good name here; I use Gemtech.

Barrel material does not matter, if you want the most accuracy potential go with stainless, if you want the barrel to last longer go chrome. The most important part of the barrel is the threads, they must be concentric to the bore or you may get baffle strikes.
If you do not already have the suppressor and you want a Surefire, I would suggest looking into the FA556AR if you are going to use a 14.5" barrel, it will help with the blowback.
While the Gasbuster is always a good idea, I think adjustable gas blocks are a waste of money, if the rifle is set up properly for a suppressor you should not need one. Go with the combat latch if you plan on running optics or the big latch if you are using irons or one of the mini red dots.

I thought the 556k was designed with shorter barreled AR's in mind?  What would be the advantages of running a 556AR over a 556K?  or is this apples to oranges.  Which one is more versitile, as in i could run it on a 14.5", 16", 18", 20" ext..  Has anyone ran a Surefire 556k on a 14.5" with some feedback?  Looks like i will be trying to find a good quility chrome lined barrel as this with be getting alot of range time and not looking at making 500m shots with it by any means.

you could poke your HTF and ask if anyone local has one you may shoot, in order to try it out.

The FA556K is shorter than the FA556AR but it adds more length to the rifle. Because the FA556AR reflexes back over the barrel it should retain more of the backpressure keeping it from exiting through the ejection port and charging handle. This is not a big deal on a rifle with a longer barrel but it can be annoying with a shorter barrel.

I shot a class with my FA556AR on a 12.5" Crusader barreled rifle while a friend used his FA556K on another 12.5"  barrel from GTS (I think) and while the FA556K was quieter it also pushed more gas back to the shooter. We also run our Surefire suppressors on multiple rifles, so neither is more versitile than the other.
