| I new to suppressors and I recently purchased a YHM can and I use it on my 10.5" AR and the blow back is terrible. I've read about gas buster charging handles and I was wondering where I can get one or is there anything else that I can do to help with this problem? |

Save your $80 and mod it with RTV. Here's the linky on how to do it.
Gas buster |

i have a gasbuster... ill put one on every rifle I have a gasbuster too. I will also put one on every ar that i run a can on. For me, it was money well spent. I guess the rtv trick works but i am very happy to have my gasbuster. I don't need to worry about the rtv "flaking off" over time. |

For those with gasbusters, have you fired it left-handed? I'm a southpaw and have held off on buying one because it looks like the channel would send more gas right into my face. They do. My buddies kid is a lefty and when he shot my rifle with the can and gas buster he made one shot then switched sides and shot right handed. |

I like the gas buster because of the extended latch, and it makes jacking the handle back much easier if you need to clear quickly, however, it's properties of jetting gas away from the user, especially on a shorty - to me - are sorely lacking. Does it work on longer barrels? Yeah I think it does, but with an SBR, I still get a jet of gas in the face with the GB.
I mean there's so many cracks and spaces in the action, upper, lower, bolt carrier, etc, that gas just goes everywhere - and channeling a tiny bit away via the GB - again, to me, and this is in my experience - doesn't really do anything. I think gas to the face is just something you learn to live with if you shoot suppressed. -Glenn |

For everyone who thinks the Silicone trick works..........it's all in your head. Think about the mechanics of it. Most of the blow-back gas comes from the gas tube and some from the chamber itself. Where does the gas tube sit? Where does the chamber sit? Both outlets are "underneeth" the charging handle, not above. Where does everyone put the bead of silicone? On the top ridge of the charging handle.....therefore the silicone does nothing to block the excessive gas blow-back.
Gas Buster charging handles have lower wings that extend so low, they cut a channel to redirect the excessive gas off to the right. They are very effective but some people don't want to pay the extra money for a little extra comfort. And as a left hander, I can tell you Gas Busters blow that crap directly into your face. It would be nice if PRI would make a "left hand" Gas Buster. MadDog |

RyJones:
I have a piston upper and you still get crap blown in your face if you are left handed as I am. Even though the blow-back does not come out the charging handle it still comes out the port which is the problem with left handers. I just purchased a 5.7 upper that is 100% blow-back free when suppressed as the empties eject down through the mag well. MadDog |
