Im looking for honest opinions about the following sound suppressors

YHM Stainless Phantom
AAC M4-2000
AAC M4-1000
AAC SPR/M4
Surefire FA556AR (M4FA)

Price in not my biggest concern however I don’t want to pay extra for no reason.  If the YHM does the same thing as the other higher priced brands then I would lean towards that one.  I am a believer in the one is none and two is one philosophy so I will probably end up with two of the same exact cans and if there is no significant difference between them a little change left over for ammo would be nice.

The most important thing to me would be POI shift when mounted or unmounted I will happily pay more for the can that has the least amount of POI shift.

It also has to be able to hold up to a mag dump here and there im not talking about bump firing thousands of rounds at a time but one or two mags here and there.

The way things are going politically, financially and not to mention the wife. I will probably not be in a situation where I will be able to go buy a new suppressor again so this will have to provide me with a lifetime of shooting enjoyment so it has to be built to last for the long haul.

What say you?

Truthfully, all cans are subject to POI shift and the barrel can have a big effect on POI shift.  But design wise, the Surefire is supposed to have little shift.  I haven't ever shot one for precision.  I have shot the surefire though, and I found it to be far too loud, particularly for the money.  The SPR/M4 allows you to adjust the POI shift, which some people like.

I have heard and shot all of the cans on your list.  If I was going to go budget, I'd get the YHM over the M41K.  They sound about the same.  If I wanted maximum suppression, I'd go with the M42K or, if I wanted a reflex design, the SPR/M4.

If I was you, I'd take a good look at Ops Inc 12th.  Supposedly low POI shift (I can't verify), and very good suppression (to my ears.)  I think it's comparable to the SPR/M4 in suppression, but that is just according to my ears, not a meter.

POI shift is not a major concern for me.  I have two reasons for that.  The first is that I pretty much always shoot suppressed, so I zero my guns for having the can on.  The second is that I think there's a very good chance of at least some POI shift with any can, so that requires you to adjust accordingly.  As long as I'm adjusting, 1 MOA is the same as 3 MOA in terms of the work required.

Well manufactured silencers, with EDM cut bores, when mounted on properly threaded barrels, should hold POI within 1MOA.

Most of the time shift is an issue, it relates to eccentric threads in relation to the bore.

I think the Surefire, as well as AAC's SPR M4 (at at least one of it's mounting orientations), and KAC silencers should be able to do that.

The Ops is not EDM bored, but I believe it will hold that POI shift as well.  The military doesn't likely use them on SPR's for no good reason.
