Suppressors for 5.56mm (including both the G5 and HALO) have a POI shift in the vicinity of 2 inches at 100 meters, depending on barrel geometry. Thread-on suppressors (including those threading onto threaded flash hiders) will have a POI shift that may vary slightly with how tightly they are torqued onto the threads. The true quick-detach suppressors have their mount pre-torqued, resulting in a consistent and absolutely predictable POI shift. Any suppressor with a zero POI shift is a fluke resulting from a specific suppressor and specific barrel, and is rarely repeatable.

The G5 has an absolutely predictable POI shift. The only other manufacturers who have an absolutely predictable POI shift with re-mounting are Knight Armament and Surefire, both of which are more expensive than the G5.

You stated that you wanted to put the can on a AR pistol also. You may want to check with the manufacturer about that. Most manufacturers dont recommend placing the can on a barrel less than 10.5"

why would it matter if the can goes on a barrel shortter than 10.5"? do you know of any links that talk about the poi shift more?

I, too, am looking at getting my first suppressor. I would appreciate advice regarding the following problem.

I would like a suppressor for a Ruger 10/22 and a Ruger MKII. I also have an AR 15. I know a suppressor for the rugers wont stand up to the punishment of the AR. But would a can for the AR also work on the Rugers and if so, what would be the pros and cons of getting a bigger suppressor for a smaller weapon.

My class 3 dealer says it would just be too big hanging off the end of the MKII.

I would appreciate any opinions on this subject as soon as convenient to someone who has a knowledgeable opinion..

Thanks in advance.

Yes, a proper .223 can will be Absolutely Huge hanging off the front of a .22 pistol. Get a proper .22 can and a proper .223 can. You'll be much, much happier and only a little poorer. (.22 cans don't have to be super-spendy - see Green0 products)

As for putting the can on a shorter barrel, you are subjecting it to a signifigantly higher pressure than on the recommended 11.5" or longer barrels. You are also adding even more dwell time to the already violent gas impulse on the bolt. As a capper, I'd bet the amount of blowback would be impressive.

One of the barrel work companies had a pic posted once with pressure curves for different length barrels. If you can find this, it might make things a little more understandable.
