I'd like to get a Ruger Mk-series .22 (II or III or whatever I can find the best deal on) and get it suppressed.

My question is if the Gemtech Oasis integrally suppressed upper is worth the (nearly double) price over other thread-on models. Anyone own one or experienced its performance side-by-side with other silencers?

It is naturally going to make the OAL shorter, but is it that much quieter? Should I just get the barrel threaded and put a $300-or-so can on there instead of the $700+ upper?

Get the new YHM can and get a threaded barrel for the MK2 and 10/22 if its your first can. I would get an intergal for a rifle but not a pistol. Its just my preference.

It won't be my first can. I have paperwork in hand for an AAC Omni (getting pictures, prints, and Sheriff signature tomorrow), but it will be my first .22. It will be for plinking fun and packing along for SHFT/BOB duties. The reason I was considering the integral upper was I don't plan on buying more .22's. (thinking about it now, "not planning on" buying guns isn't the surest of bets.)
