Two and a half months! |

I have my GSG-5 already, I have the Form 1 filled out. I'm waiting for Gem Tech to get back from SHOT. Once I talk to them about hte chop and 2 lug attachment I'll send in the Form 1 and have the receiver engraved. I just want ot make sure they can do the chop and 3 lug conversion. I will have that can in 3 lug attachment form! |
Hopefully Silencer Research will test it later this year for dB reduction. Big Can = Big sound reduction |
sure looks like it. I cant wait. second and third pics down |
That's true to a point. At a point the gains are very slim to none. I wouldn't be too surprised if it was a 45DB can. <taking the lead in the performance game, but at a cost of double the volume and weight of competing products. Maybe Gemtech can help inform customers in decision making with a performance figure they have found in testing on a given firearm that can be confirmed independently at a later time. |

The barrel is too skinny, it might work but there's a gap where the fake suppressor is. I think it's the best way around after chopping the barrel. |
|
| The barrel is .470 inches. The same as a P22. There is not enough thickness to thread and have theads tall enough to properly engage. Thats why the P22 has the adapter to step up in thickness. Last word from Gemtech is they are still tweaking the design/suppressor. So no word on price/availability yet. But just because its a 8" can doesnt mean it will be that much quieter. I spoke with several makers and they increased the length of current production models with no real improvement. I think 44db is going to be the limit on 22 suppression for a while. One of them said they had a noticeable difference in tone with the bigger suppressor but not any quieter on the meter. |
| Has anyone run one of the GSG-5's with subsonic ammo? Seems kind of silly to go to all the trouble threading the barrel or permanently fixing the can on if the weapon won't run on subs. My Ruger 10/22 and Ceiner kit for the AR both run with subs, so keeping the rounds quiet isn't an issue. |
| I took mine out the first day and ran about 450 rounds through it. All had 1 full magazine of each and i mix matched others but. CCI subsonic, stand vel, mini mag, fed automatch, Remington subsonic and target, Winchester Dynapoint all ran without a hick-up. I only had 1 issue and that was a failure to pick up the initial round 1 time but recharging the weapon corrected that issue. So far mine will eat anything i feed it. |
Yes, the GSG-5SD will be available on a Gemtech supplied GSG-5 Rifle. MSRP $1,195 for the complete package. Final design work, testing, and production of the first batch of rifle/suppressors is beginning. Target release date is May 2008. Owen M. Gemtech |
Adapters will be the same price as our P22 and Mosquito adapters at $45 MSRP. If you send your Form 1 SBR rifle to Gemtech we will cut and recrown your barrel and install the adapter for $150. The first run of production version adapters will be completed in about a week. Owen M. Gemtech |
Owen, Do you happen to know the cut barrel length so we can put that correct info on our Form1? I will NEED to submit my paperwork soon. |
***Not Owen, but I gotta respect a man's need and right to a cool little suppressed SBR. That and good carpaccio. Your basic barrel info from the Gemtech GSG adapter packaging: ![]() Kel ARFCOM INDUSTRY DISCLAIMER: Material things fade away and the immediate joy of ownership can sour quickly with the discovery that there's always newer and cooler upcoming. These days, a lot of this 'newer-cooler' stuff can be found on the Gemtech website (www.gem-tech.com). It's a never-ending quest (but not anywhere near as deflating as trying to keep up with the Joneses in the computer or electronics worlds, mind you), and thus you shouldn't get your self-worth out of what you own, but then again, there's nothing wrong with enjoying the ride once you've got your priorities and values in check. Edit for typo. You'd think I'd know how to spell "suppressed"... |
Awesome. I guess the ATF will be happy with 8" for barrel length. Thanks Kel!!! I am still wondering, do we need to send in the entire rifle or just the barrel. I am guessing if we send in the entire rifle it can be tested at gemtech to make sure everything is A-OK. |
Will you guys be selling an SBR'd GSG5 with the adaptor installed as a complete gun? I will buy one no doubt. |
bueller, bueller |
|
I would also like to know if gemtech is thinking about selling pre cut barrels with the adapter just by itself. I would like to SBR mine, but I think I would also like to keep the 16" barrel as well, just incase. I heard that someone will be making an aftermarket shorty, but I haven't heard anything yet on who that might be. |
I would like the same thing. |
