Hey Guys...I don't really know ANYTHING about suppressors, and am about to take the plunge and acquire an SBR, with which I will later add a suppressor. I obviously want the most bang for the buck, and want to know the following: If I have a 9mm SBR, and put a suppressor on it, can I also use (legally and technically)the same suppressor for a 9mm Handgun? The same question would go for a 5.56 SBR and a .22 caliber handgun. Thanks in advance, Sir Hacksalot |

Figure out which 9mm handgun you want to use the can with and buy that. Then modify the SBR thread/mount to use it. There are also cans that have multiple mounts made just for multiple platforms but these are sensitive to the handgun. If you want to suppress a baby Glock, you can pretty much figure on a dedicated unit. Also, the 9mm can will work pretty good for most .22. The .223 is a dedicated unit. |

It will work, but why coat your expensive 9mm can with lead? Just get both, .22 cans are relatively cheap. Pretty tough to clean the lead out of a 9mm can, the maker will have to clean it. There's no way around it, .22 ammo is dirty. As little as 500 rnds will start a nice coat of lead on the first 2-3 baffles. Just my opinion though, I would'nt shoot .22 thru my Trident. I bought a couple .22 cans along with the 9mm can for that. |
Nothing quite removes the lead mess that a .22 leaves behind. |
As was said, .22 makes a darn mess. I would never EVER subject my $1000 .308 can to that. |
