I ordered a .223 can from my local dealer back in Sept. He didn't have it in stock so he ordered it from Gemtech, its still back ordered. The order went in the last week of Sept and still no can, nothing from them and they cant seem to tell my dealer any thing other than "Its in production" what ever that means. 4 months seem like a long wait, I relize we are at war but still it seem kinda odd. Has anyone else had a problem with long waits from Gemtech? Any idea what might be happening?

I had to wait over 2 months for my 13.5x1 LID.  I had my Fomr 4 back for 3 weeks before my adaptor showed up

And my M4-02 took 1 month to ship to me, it wasn't 'on paper' when I ordered it.

Your dealer might be waiting for another order to get the min for a dealer discount. You might look at other places. I have seen gemtech stuff all over.

Which suppressor is it? We have had difficulty with some of the raw materials with China gobbling up alloys such as Grade 5 Titanium, Inconel, even stainless.

By Tuesday, M4-02s will be on the shelf, complete and numbered.

We should have HALOs within a week of the close of SHOT.

As of March 28 2008 I finally was able to submit my paper work on this can. This will be my 1st and LAST can from Gemtech I think.

I've been waiting on an MK9K for about 6 months. Last I heard they were supposed to have been finishing a run of them around the end of February. Haven't heard anything since.

PHD, and idea when some MK9K's will be available?

I ordered my HALO on Oct 17, 2007.  It was delivered to the dealer the first week of April.

Never buy a suppressor that isn't in stock.  Learned my lesson.

Approaching 5 months waiting for my UMP can. My dealer has been told since January that NFA is still processing their papers for new build suppressors.

Why?  What's wrong with it?  What turned out to be the hold up?  Did Gemtech totally screw the pooch and not want to give you your suppressor or what?

Just curious.

I bought a G5 but it was in stock.

Seems something's been going on for the last 6 months and everything is taking a loooong time.  ATF causing this?  They sure are taking a long time for Forms now.

If you boycott suppressor manufacturers who have back orders you'll end up buying bags of potatoes instead.

The Forms Came back approved today, 9 months later. Gemtech droped the ball. 2 months from the day my dealer got it in stock I had the approved forms in hand. 7 months of back order is BULL. Theres nothing wrong with there products but to string a customer along telling them that it sould only be a couple weeks, time and time again is bad bussneiss. Hopefully someone from gemtech will see this and relay the message that they have a poor policy for back orders. I would have no problem buying a Gemtech product form a person and having it transfered but i would never buy one from a Gemtech dealer again. Gemtech will never get another dime from me.

The key is finding a dealer with what you want in stock.  I am certain some dealer, somewhere had what you wanted on his shelf.

All manufacturers have had delays.  Every manufacturer I sell has had delays and at some point given me the "two weeks" routine only to really take two months (or more).  Sometimes things are out of their control.  Like Phil said in an earlier post, manufacturers buy raw materials from someone.  The silencer manufacturer is at the mercy of the companies from which they buy.  Other times a manufacturer might schedule production on one product and get an order from a LE department, military, etc. and have to put production on hold to take care of that other customer.  I know for a fact that has happened with several manufacturers.  Not saying that is what happened here, but just saying lots of things can cause delays.

Bottom line here is I wouldn't be so quick to bash Gemtech.  They give estimates.  Sometimes estimates are off.  Find a stocking dealer or deal with the fact there might be delays.

In stock would have helped alot, unfortunatly theres only about 2 SOTs near me so its a limited options thing. I took the one i thought was better.

I had one. Could have had it to his SOT in 2 weeks.

M4, nowhere in your post do you mention actually talking to Gemtech, your posts imply your timeframes are being set by your dealer. Are you sure your dealer did not string you along, so you would not go to someone else for the business?

You don't have to buy from only local dealers.

If your local dealer does not stock the product you want, you can buy from an out of state dealer.  You will save sales tax and pay your local dealer some transfer fee.  Usually it works out as a wash on the fees and you can get the product faster typically.  Had you done that, at the time you bought the can Form 3 transfers were only taking two weeks or so.  Form 4s were also being approved faster.  You would have had the product in your hand before Christmas.  By now you would already be getting bored with it and you would have been looking for your next purchase.

Live and learn.

MrM4,

I'd certainly like to offer Gemtech's corporate, and my personal, apologies on the tardiness of your suppressor.  I'd also like to take a second to explain that, if there's one policy that's I've pretty well set in stone around here, it's that I instruct all the employees to never guess at or quote delivery dates to a customer unless the item is sitting in the vault, ready to slap a next-day-air label on it.

Everyone in the manufacturing business runs out of something sometime, and while we strive to not have that happen, it obviously does from time to time -- but we are not the "two weeks, two weeks" guys.  I would rather lose a sale than knowingly mislead someone on a delivery time to get an order, and a great many dealers appreciate this honesty from us so they may base their purchasing decisions upon truthful delivery times, even if it is occasionally longer than we'd all prefer.  We will let a dealer know if their requested product is 30 days out, 5 months out, or even inform them if we don't know when an item might be made (such as one of our low-demand custom items), but we will tell them the truth and not knowingly give bad information -- or ask for a deposit -- on a product that might have a lengthy delivery time.  If someone here told you directly that something was going to happen sooner than it did, then I am truly sorry and that is absolutely contrary to our policies.  I won't blame anyone else in the chain (BATFE NFA Branch delays, dealers not ordering when they said they did, not paying his bills, etc), other than to say there may be other factors that can slow down the process.  I don't know the situation with your specific order, but regardless of who's fault it may be, I would rather accept the blame and offer our apology instead of trying to pin it on someone else.

If you would like to talk to me about your experience, perhaps determine the cause, and allow us an opportunity to make things right with you, feel free to drop me a line at my number below, M-F, 9-5 MST.

Thank you for your business and your patience, I hope you enjoy your suppressor.

1st off, Renegadx.

I learned that you could do that after I had already placed the order, I was under the impression that it would have cost another Transfer Tax to do. I now understand how that works. Thank you for you imput.

Yes I did in fact talk to "Costomer Support" 3 time threw out the deal. The 1st time was a " yea things are alittle slow, maybe  a few weeks it shouldn't long " answer. I am paraphraseing simply becasue I don't rember the Exact words used. the 2nd time I rember getting the " our materials where out of spec, I there no where else to find supplyers, steel is hard to get right now, so it will probelly a few more weeks." 3rd time" I finally got a it sould be done this week. "

Ok now on to Kel

1st off I do appreciate you taking the time to write a responce to my post. I do not hold you personaly responcable for this mess. This is the chain of events as to how things happend

Approximatly Sept 25 07 I placed the order with my local SOT

The following Monday he placed the order.

Conversations above happened within the 7 month period.

Late March the suppressor arrived at my SOT.

May 30 my F4 was approved and returned to SOT.

I'm not exactly sure how 9 months later I now finally have somthing to show for a check I wrote last September. I relize the costomer service personel where attemping to be positve about the ordeal. Had I of know just how much of a headache it was going to be I would have simply canceled my order and found a differant company, Had I of know about transfering from one dealer to another I very well may have done that too. I would like to point out that I dont find fault with any of Gemtechs Productsonly the mess I had to endure to finally get my Gemtech Can. Once again I do appreciate your responce Kel.
