After I saw a couple threads on the Suppressed Armament Systems (SAS) .30 can, I gave Tim a call and after a little discussion, decided to order one.

He mentioned that he's going to try to reduce the weight of his .30 can.  I plan on using it to suppress a 7.62x39mm MGI AR and a Savage .308 bolt rifle (Don't have it yet).

In the mean time, for those who have his can already, what do you think?  Any videos?

Tag as I just heard about these cans at work the other day.

Tim has several things going for him.  He has a small operation so he can keep his costs down and offer excellent customer service.  I was visiting my folks in Evansville last January and he took the time to go to the range with me and let me try some cans.  We had a .22 as well as the .30 I ended up buying and also another .30 on a full auto AK...very cool.  His cans seem very quiet.  I don't have alot of experience with other cans  so I can't really make a comparison but a full power round out of my AR10 sounds just like a .22lr coming out a rifle barrel. A subsonic sounds about like a ruler smacking a table.  The round hitting the target seems louder than the discharge of the round.  POI shift was almost nonexistent...about 1/4 MOA.

If I had to pick something I didn't like about his cans, I guess I would choose the weight.  My can is a bit on the heavy side but I can handle a few extra ounces to save $500+ dollars.  YMMV

I already have those.  I was hoping some members here may have taken their own footage.

bjwar10 - very nice!!!  Do you have the QD mount?  Tim is going to make 2 QD mounts for the same can.  One will have 1/2"-36 threads and the other will have 5/8"-24.

Thanks...my can is not a QD.

What price range are we talking here?

IIRC $400 for a .30 can.

I've got my forms in for one, should be getting them back anytime now.  Tim's a great guy to talk to, has always been more than happy to answer any of my questions.

Great can! I have the QD mount , what do you want know? I have one on my AR-10T and my M4. I simply love this can and in all honesty I don't think I would buy any other brand...

It would be cool to see some pictures of his QD system... he doesn't seem to picture the product too well on the site.

I was only interested because if he does dealer discounting, his products will be dirt cheap to me, and affordable to potential customers...

WI residents aren't into spending too much on weapons.

His can's are great from my experience- have a .30 cal.  Yes it's heavy, but it's on the end of a 22" heavy barrel savage so not like it matters too much.  It works, and is a low price but good quality.

I keep seeing people posting that the SAS-LLC can is heavy. In comparison to other 308 suppressors in the same size it is actually right in the middle at 28 oz.   AWC 36.5, AAC 30.5,Gemtech 41, SWR 27.6, SRT 27.8, Soundtech 30.5. SO you see..... it's not heavy unless you are comparing it to a Ti Can.

I was thinking the same thing.  Tim mentioned that he's working on a lightweight and a Ti can.

I am happy with my SAS 30 can I had issues with the threading but it was resolved rather quickly.

As for being heavy....it is a 30 caliber can...and it was good to know it smacks right in the middle compared to other cans in the market.

I'll try to take some better pics later tonight...

The pics on his website must be an older model and it looks cheesey to me. The ones he made for me are a little longer and have a ridge so to speak for the suppressor the engage. I know I'm not accurately describing it... I'll take some better pics tonight when I have time.

I think it's a great can for the money.  I also had Tim make me an adapter so that I can use it on my AR-15s.

Think of it as the car equivalent of a toyota camry.  There are other cars out there that perform a little better, but for most people the camry does 95% of what the more expensive cars do and meets their needs well.

I don't regret buying my SAS can for a moment and would recommend it to others.  Oh, and their customer service is top notch.

I have an SAS .30 can that I love. On the PARA FAL 16", it cuts the blast down and is louder than I would like, but still fantastic. I think the FAL itself is just not a great platform for suppressing. It is quieter if you turn off the gas and shoot it like a bolt gun. After a second trip to the range with the suppressed FAL, I got to stand behind it while someone else fired it. The difference of a few feet changed my whole perception. It sounded like a .22magnum..
Mounted on the AR15, it sounds like a .22lr to everybody. Really bizarre, is that when a 50 grain hollowpoint 5.56 hits a jack rabbit, there is a disgustingly loud smack, an "icky thump" if you will, that you normally cannot hear over the report of a rifle. I will never varmint hunt again with unsuppressed weapons.
For the money, you cannot go wrong with an SAS can. It was my entry into NFA and now I have a TAC65 awaiting approval at my dealer right now. Everyone I have taken out with these cans has decided that they cannot live without one. Total price for mine was $800 with tax, transfer and shipping. That's the base price of other manufacturers.

Thanks for the input guys, keep them coming.  Hopefully I'll have mine in possession in a couple months.  I may have to try out his .45 can too.

Thanks for the pic.  Looks like a good FH anyway.

HA! I'd like to see anyone persuade our women to do anything.

They might be able to beat our military, but our women are stone walls.

Here are some more pics that he recently e-mailed me.

The last pic is his .45 can.  Does any ARFCOMMER have any experience with it?

Thanks for the great pictures, Steezo!

Is that a threaded coupler with a thread-protector on that FH?

Those are clean-looking suppressors. Anyone know if that 45 can is boosted? It seems short for a boosted can.

This is the first I'd heard of SAS can. Thanks for the introduction!

Bump for Tim's new site...and what looks like a bit of a price increase.

Gemtech HVT with quick mount is 28 oz, thread mount is 24 oz and the AAC 762-SD with mount is 22 oz.

I'd be interested in hearing Tim's cans.

I have one of his 5.56mm cans and two QD's. He is a great guy to deal with and will customize your can to suit your needs.

He setup the QD for my M4 to keep the barrel non-SBR and to backspace the can so that it only adds 4" to the OAL of the weapon. It's still quiet enough not to need ear-pro (which was the primary reason for a can on my patrol rifle).

I had him make a standard QD for my 20" HBAR so that I could utilize the full volume of the blast chamber.

The QD's are very effective Flash Hiders in their own right.

If he gets the Ti Suppressors worked out, I may go to him for the can for my AR-10 SBR project.
