This guy's website has a nice story on the main page, but I can't get any more funtionality that that from his website. Anyone else have better luck? darkguild.com/index.html |

Looks like darkguild just copied the one page. Here is the real site: www.htgsilencers.com/index.html |

If this is true, I'm impressed: ARIS Caliber: .223 Remington (5.56x45mm) Length (LOA): 6 inches (152 mm) Diameter: 1.5 inches (38 mm) Weight: 18 ounces (500 grams) Construction: 303 and 304 and heat treated 17-4 stainless steel the first baffle. Sound Suppression: 37 dB dry Mount: ½x28 TPI Price: $576.00 with nonreflective gray finish. $597.00 with nonreflective black Cerakote tm milspec finish. Characteristics: Excellent accuracy-enhancing qualities. The ARIS is also very quiet. Wow ETA: I think I read a review in some magazine about these not long ago, anybody happen to have it? |
If that is true, I would be impressed, also. 37 db reduction dry would be 127 db 1 meter to the left of the muzzle on a 14.5" barrel AR style gun. And that would be better by 4-5 db than anybody else gets using Mil-Std test procedures, assuming Mil-Std test procedures were used in the test Doug |
I just ran my Sig P226T unsuppressed on a meter and it hit 161dB with UMC 9mm 147 grain for 5 shots. This silencer would have to bring it down to an average of 124dB... If true, it would probably qualify as the quietest 9mm silencer out there. I am somehow very skeptical. However I can do a comparison test if anyone has one. |
You lucky fucker. 33.6 dry is outstanding. |
| I live near HTG and talk to the owner often. I even own one of his .223 suppressors. No I do not have stock in the company. The article was in Guns and Weapons. I can't give you exact sound measurements, but my .223 suppressor is Quiet! IN fact while coyote hunting the other day I shot it and my buddy ordered one when we got back. Probably the quietest .223 suppressor I ever heard. |

I look forward to hearing more about this company and it's suppressors. I would love to see some of them tested by an independent source. For those of you that own or have shot HTG suppressors, did you have previous experience with other brands and if so, how did they compare ? I notice that their .45 ACP handgun suppressor is advertised with similar numbers for sound reduction as the AAC Blackbox which is not in production yet. And, it should be significantly cheaper. Interesting. |
| The can would hold up to everything every other can would. I have emptied an entire mag on an AR through mine (rapid fire) and it was warm but not super hot. Sorry I cannot give you scientific measurements. If you read his website there is an individual that emptied several mags with one of his suppressors and did not harm it at all. Plus he has a warranty. So why are you worried? |

As I mentioned in my previous post, I am very interested in the .45 ACP can. I have never owned or shot a .45 ACP can, but from what I have read on-line the .45 ACP is traditionally a lot louder than something smaller like a 9mm. I believe I have read that there is no hearing safe .45 ACP suppressor currently on the market. With much hoopla, AAC broke the news about their Black Box suppressor which they say is completely revolutionary and is significantly better than any other .45 ACP can. They claim it to be as quiet if not quieter than their famous EVO-9. According to them it was designed and built without regard to cost: they pulled out all the stops and let nothing stand in their way of making the finest possible suppressor for .45 ACP. Ok, that's all well and good but you can't buy one. They arn't in production. Now I read about this HTG can for .45 ACP that claims very similar numbers at a cost that is a fraction of what the AAC can was supposed to be priced. But how does all this work out in real life ? I was so excited about the AAC Blackbox that I purchased an HK Mk.23 to put it on. Now that I shelled out the money for the gun, I can't get the can so I am looking at what else is out there. |
Barrel length makes a big difference. The G5 test was on a 10" barrel. This one looked to be at least a 14.5" or longer. |
Thank you, I would appreciate that. I read the articles by Al Paulson available on the HTG website and he gives them glowing reviews (of course). He even goes as far as to say the 9mm can he tested is the quietest one he ever tested (If I remember what it said correctly). So, one could imagine that if the 9mm can is everything they say it is, then the .45 can might be also ? FWIW: this can is going to be used on a .45 ACP handgun. Nothing full auto, no torture tests or anything like that. |
