OK, finally made up my mind! I heard alot of great things on AAC, now going next week to get one but was wondering wich is best? and which is more the quietist. The M4-1000 or M4-2000? Need input before next week! Also, Im using on .223 semi, just in case.
Thanks in advanced.

The M4-2000 is slightly quieter than the M4-1000's-$300+ dollars quieter? I personally don't think so.
I would go with an M4-2000 if I had a full-auto (the M4-1000 will take limited faull auto use as well) and if I were going to also be putting this on a precision AR as I think the mount is better.

Other than that-I'd go with an M4-1000 all the way......

The M4-1000 is the best bang for the buck.

The M4-2000 has an Inconel blast baffle($$$) and is slightly lighter and shorter.

They have roughly the same dB ratings (32 -1000, 30-35 -2000)

If you shoot full auto a lot the 2000 is what you want, otherwise go for the 1000 and save about $345.

It would also make it cost more, thereby reducing the reasons to buy the 1000 over the 2000.

Maybe, but maybe not. If AAC standardized their mounting system so that everything used the ratchet mount, they wouldn't need to produce different types of flash hiders, springs, latches, etc. They could streamline the production of their qd rifle cans if they all used the same style mount. Even if there were a price increase, I don't think it would be enough to negate the competitive value of the M4-1000.

I agree with the points already made.  I ask customers the following questions...

Are you ever going to shoot on an SBR (11.5" or shorter)?  If yes, the M4-2000.  SBRs are hard on the blast baffle.

Are you ever going to shoot full-auto (or simulated, for you serious bump-fire guys)?  If yes, the M4-2000.  Full-auto/rapid fire is harder on the blast baffle.

If you answered no to both of those questions, you then need to decide if the SCARmor finish, improved mount, size and weight are worth the extra coin for the M4-2K.

Hard on them or not, they warranty SBR use on a M4-1000............

hey apeman

i had a chance to shoot the m4-1000 and 2000 and i didn't really notice any difference in the sound between the two.  humans can't really tell the difference in sound until the 1.4-1.6 decibel mark, so it didn't make sense for me to get get a m4-2000 because the sound reduction is negligible to my ears and i won't be doing beta mag dumps.  the main difference in price comes from the finish of the primary baffle and the QD.  The m4-1000 is rated for full auto, offers great sound reduction, is a reliable QD design and was a great price.  my dealer actually talked me out of the 2000, too.

give me a shout sometime next week.  maybe we can meet up and you can shoot it.

You were right. I asked the same question on ST.com, and AAC said that the price increase would be substantial. Guess it was just wishful thinking

The way I look at it is buying a silencer is a losing ($$$) deal.  You cant really sell them to anyone else unless you are going to take a bug hit.  You have too pay the $200 tax and whatever your dealer charges for a transfer fee. With that said I would want to buy the best the first time. This is just MHO.

I have also shot my M4-1000 next to a M4-2000 on the same barrel length rifle and could not detect a difference in suppression.
