hello everyone.. im very interested in a supressor for the good ole ar.... i dont want to fork out 1.3k for a surefire, so i was looking at gemtech the M4-02 (Piranha) is one that i was lookin at... i mean u cant go wroung at 595 is this one comparable to the G5 (5.56mm) or the HALO??? also, this thing attached to existing flsh supressors, what flash hider are they talking about?? thanks ! |

The HALO is the one that mounts on the existing flash hider or compensator <shamless plug> like the DNTC Compensator </shameless plug>. The M4-02 screws on to the threads of your rifle in place of the compensator or flash hider. I didn't think I would mind screwing it on and off, but in hindsight, I wish I would have gotten the HALO - which is why I ordered one yesterday. Hope this helps. Todd |
it helps alot.... does anyone have any experience with the HALO on how efficient this thing is??? |
| I don't have a halo, but I have the G-5 and I'm very satisfied with it. More quiet than a .22 unsuppressed. I also love the quick disconnect, so I can take it on and off with a simple push and 90º twist. Accurate and fun. The Halo is a good way to go also, since you won't have to pay $75 for flash suppressor/bi-lock apparatus. |

The G5 is the quietest with the HALO and M4-02 a close second. Most folks can barely hear the difference. The G5 mounts on a proprietary trpe true quik-mount flash hider (simple push and 1/4 turn twist), the HALO on a NATO specification flash hider (such as the A1 or A2 birdcage as well as a number of others), and the M4-02 mounts strictly on muzzle threads. Incidentally, the M4-02 has a MSLP of $525, not $595. One comment about the HALO mount. There are a number of mounting systems for going on a Colt birdcage flash hider showing up in the marketplace. However, almost all are specific to that one flash hider. The HALO mount is far more universal in that it will work on any 22mm FH or brake that varies in length between 1.75 and 2.05 inches in length regardless of the location of wrench flats or precence of a BFA groove. |
ok that cleared up alot... i wasnt sure about how i was going to mount this thing |
