| Other than the fact that the QD attachment method is quicker is there any other benefits over a thread on ? |
| I'm probably going to go between 3. I'm looking at YHM in case anyone is wondering which QD. Is the QD attachment more durable than standard threaded ? I'm wondering if it is worth the extra $75 per QD adapter. If speed is the only advantage then it doesn't quite matter for the kind of shooting I do |

One added benefit to a QD mount, is that the QD mount also acts like a blast baffle. This can add life to a suppressor, as the QD FH takes alot of the intitial punishment from a fired round. So instead of having to send a threaded can in for service for a cooked or eroded blast baffle, all you will need to do is replace the QD FH. Well, this is my thinking anyway, YMMV. |
+1... it's a PITA to be re-tightening thread on cans if you're doing a lot of shooting, especially if you are with friends that may not be aware to watch for that. |

i just bought an aac omni for my ar. i wanted to use it for 4 different guns. it uses a standard a2 flashhider for it's mount so even though it was a bit higher i saved money on having to buy 3 more propritary muzzel attachments at 75.00 a pop. i have a threaded 22 can also. it's a bit more work to use a threaded can but not much. i have found that after shooting a 223 can there is no such thing as QUICK detach. the mount works fin but it need 30 min to cool down enough to remove it using gloves |
I don't have any trouble removing a smokin hot AAC M42000 but I can't put it anywhere! So I leave it on the rifle, hanging off the edge of the bench |
oh i can get mine off. it's just part of my gloves try to stay with the can it'll come right off if your man enough to leave burning flesh behind |

some thread mount cans have strong enough blast baffles like the ETS Gladius that erosion will not be a problem . I built it the way I would want a can built if I was buying it. as for loosning I run my test model on my 11.5" M16 and it stays pretty tight. a welding glove does help to check it for tightness. one good thing about a thread mount is there is no extra mount to buy. on some bolt guns guy put a little teflon tape on the threads to keep the can from backing off. |
no and i had the same question. the crush washer and lock washer apparently allow/cuase the flash hider to cant ever so slightly. as the can indexes off the fh this may cause baffle strikes as the can will not be properly aligned to the bore. i didn't really understand this either until i got mine and looked closely at the mount. now it makes sense. peel washers only <+my can won't seat on a crush washer as it's slightly wider than the fh diameter.> |
