So, have they shipped yet?  Anybody bought one?  Let's hear some experiences!

I am interested in one for a SPR build and a RECCE type build.  Will the shoulder on a SPR barrel interfere with the extra long flash hider mount of a SPR/M4?

12.5" or longer barrel is needed.  I shot one of the last pre-production versions just before SHOT Show and was very impressed with the lack of gas blow back.  We did not shoot the can for accuracy.  Frankly, as a pre-production model it wouldn't have mattered.  We'll see how the production models fair.

AAC has the cans built (I've seen them).  Some were waiting to be finished and EDMed.  The main wait right now is the mounts, which are another couple weeks off unfortunately.

This is from a thread posted just before SHOT Show....

---------------------

I got a chance to shoot the new AAC SPR/M4 silencer the other day.  This is a fast-attach .223/5.56 can that cantelievers back over the barrel.  In this picture it is the can on the right.  The can on the left is the new updated M4-2000 Mod 07.  Got to shoot that too.

Notice the latch on the back of the can.  Here is another look at the latch and the teeth inside the can for this new MITER mount.  Note there are different starting points on the threads to adjust indexing for any POI shift.  (We did NOT shoot this for accuracy/groups because I forgot the match ammo.  Doh! )

Here is what the back of the new ratchet mount looks like.

The weight on the can I shot was only 17.6 oz., but the published info on the can says 18.75.  Not sure what is up with that, but I'll find out.  For reference, the current M4-2000 weighs about 18.5 oz and is 7" long.  The SPR/M4 is 8.25" long.  The current M4-2000 adds about 5" to the length of the host weapon.  This SPR/M4 can adds only 4".

Finish is the new SCARmor finish.  Materials in the can are inconel 718 and 316SS.  This thing is tough as nails.

Sound suppression is rated same as the current M4-2000.  I couldn't tell them apart.

However, one of the really cool features of this can is the greatly reduced blowback.  I couldn't believe it.  I ever forgot to throw on my shooting glasses for a 20-round mag and shot the entire mag with ZERO blowback in my face.  I was using a GasBuster charging handle and the barrel is an 18" Noveske.  Guys who know me know I run my guns fairly wet and I still had no blowback.

This is Freddy shooting the can on my rifle.  There was unsuppressed fire at the range part of the time, which is reason for the hearing protection in the pic.

Because the mount is installed over the barrel, this new mount will work on 12.5" and longer barrels.  So, guys with the 11.5" blaster should look for a different can (like a couple of the other new AAC cans ).

Retail price on the can is $1050 and they should be available in a few weeks.

Thanks BookHound!  I did a search before and have read that thread about a dozen times.  I haven't heard anybody say anything since, so I was just wondering what was going on with them.  I might just end up going with a M41K for now.

Just my opinion, but AAC came to market with maybe a little too much new stuff all at once.  So much new stuff is coming to market at the same time, that everything got delayed.

The SPR cans were originally going to be done right around SHOT Show.  The M4-1000s just finally started shipping a couple weeks ago.  We finally got the Prodigy cans a little over a week ago.  The other new stuff (Aviators, M4-2K mod 07, 416-SD, 762-SD, SPR cans, etc.) are all in production and should be shipping any day now.  Everything will be hitting the dealer's shelves all at once.

But that is why no one is talking about these products.  They just aren't out there yet.  When these new items start shipping there will be talk I'm sure.
