Yesterday we tested 3 suppressors on the same gun with different ammo in the same sequence for each can.  We were not concerened with what a hearing machine told us ie how many Db reduction there was.  We wanted to see what the difference to the human ear was.
We tested the Tac 22, AAC ranger, and Sure Fires Biloc system.  All were on a 20" SS Bull Barrel AR.
We had 2 observers.  THe conclusion was definite difference between the Surefire and the Ranger but it was that one was louder than the other, it was just a different sound that iminated from the muzzle.  For a 600$ difference we could not figure out why anyone would want to buy a Surefire!  There was a difference of course between the Tac and the other 2 but noise wasn't it.  For what ever reason we had 2 different people shoot the gun and with the Tac on both reported feeling a substantial more amount of recoil comming from the gun?
Over all what I would suggest is that if you are gonna buy a .223 and are debating between the 3 the surefire would be my last pick!  It is way over rated for the price.  If you want a good decently priced can go with the AAC M4-2000 same thing as the ranger just with the flash hider locking system.  If you are strapped for cash and want a can go with the TAC a great can for the money!

Surefire suppressors are VERY overpriced.  I have said that over and over and over.  Surefire brings nothing to the table a M42000 or Gemtech G5 wont do for much less money.

I think what Surefire brings to the table is that they appear to offer virtually the same POI with or without the can.  I can see certain applications where that would be essential.  However, for most of us that will never be necessary.  Just like Jet does not make anything close to the most quiet can on the market they do have a purpose and a market.  While I have no need for the Surefire can in my safe I still see where it's properties would be desired if not essential.

All the "brand name" suppressors share the same minimal POI shift, one company just choose to advertise that fact more than others.

My experience with a variety of suppressors is that they all change the POI some due to the mass on the end of the barrel and the accompanying change in barrel harmonics, e.g. the exact location of the muzzle when the bullet clears the barrel.  This would be true of any mass on the barrel -- suppressors can also change the POI due to the amount of asymmetry in the baffle structure.  I have measured the change in POI with .22lr suppressors and posted the results before.

IMHO Surefire does not have a special design that is better than other major mfgr at minimizing the change in POI.  ANY change in POI is going to be a issue that needs to be dealt with in precision shooting.  IME the change in POI for many suppressors is repeatable and can be adjusted for in the scope.

For my money, Gemtech, SWR, AAC, YHM etc is a better solution.
