Where do you buy your subsonic ammo? Looking for |
| I buy both from Midway, can't say if they're the cheapest but I get good service from them. |
+1 just got 1000 rounds of CCI and remington Subsonics from then on Tuesday. |
| These people have lots of different kinds. I buy CCI.www.natchezss.com/ |

A friend and I tried some Aguila 38gr HP subsonics and 40 gr SP subsonic rounds. They both made very nice groups at 25 and 50 yards. Anyone here know how well they work in suppressors? How do they compare to other subsonic rounds in regards to noise levels? We are both going to suppress Ruger 10/22's with Tactical Solutions barrels and houge stocks. We are going to be getting Gemtech Outback II's. Anyone using this ammo in a rifle like this with a can? I'll also be using my can on my Walther P22. We tried the Remington Subsonics and neither of our rifles liked it very much. The groups were pretty wide. CCI Subconics worked fine in my gun and gave nice groups but his gun wouldn't cycle 100% with them. It will shoot all the other ammo we have tried though. Not sure why this is yet. Maybe it just doesn't like it? |
When a few guys from the hometown section did a group buy on a local manufactures .22 cans we did a bit of comparrison in regards to ammo. While my favorite is still Dynapoints because it's copper washed and I believe the quietest ammo that we ran. My tied for second ammo is the Aguila SE 40gr. and the CCI standard velocity ammo. I think that the Remington subsonic was the least favored round for both accuracy and reliability to cycle the action. The Dynapoints were just a touch quieter to my ears, they did not group as well as the Aguila SE or the CCI standard. Even with the cost I would love to run the Aguila SSS 60 gr ammo. However neither my 10/22 barrel or my MKII will stabilize the bullet. I won't risk a baffle or end plate strike. My 27" Mossberg LSB144 would stabilize them, but is not threaded. Even without a can on the Mossberg the SSS ammo was pretty quiet. One of the barrels that was used was a Tac soulutons bull barrel. The owner now shoots the Aguila SE 40gr through it. If you'd like more info about that specificly, contact tracker in the Oregon Hometown. Hope this info helps. Nox |
| I shoot a Kuehl M4 22 upper with an AAC Pilot using the Aguila 40gr SS and they are the quietest most accurate sub sonic rounds that I have used so far. Winchester Dynapoints were my favorite until I fired these rounds. My Ruger 10/22 pocket rifle will not cycle the Aguila, neither will my Walther P22. ( both these guns ran near 100% prior to using the Aguila). There is simply not enough pressure to get the bolt back on the Ruger or the slide back on the Walther even with the suppressor attached. They do 100% in my Kuehl and are cheap to boot ($1.35) at Natchez. I love them other than the smell. Did I metion that they are almost as quiet as a bolt action with a can. After firing my Kuehl with the Aguila ammo, I decided NOT to get a bolt action 22 threaded for my Pilot. |

I'm currently running the Remington Subsonic. They may noyt be the most accurate, but I have lttle trouble hitting the 3" metal disks on the 22 targets I have setup at about 40 yards. They run fine in my 10/22 and P22 using the Gemtech Outback. They also work in my dedicated Keuhl 22 upper on an M16, though I don't have a full-auto rated 22 can yet. $218/case delivered. |
We figured out why his rifle wouldn't feed CCI's He istalled his Tac. Sol. barrel without fitting the shank and it made the chamber tighter. He put the barrel in the freezer and slid it into the receiver while it was cold. After having problems with it he did remove it and fit the shank now it works fine. We found that the 40 gr Aguila cycles better thought both 10/22's and my P22 when using suppressors than the 38 gr HP does. The 38 gr does not fully cycle the action every time. CCI Standard Velocity works great in all three guns also. Did not have CCI Subsonics to test with the cans. |
