Looking at the new gemtech blackside. I'm new to cans so any help would be appreciated. |

Not sure what your asking so I'll thow out some info. Gemtech makes good cans (Blackside and one other i think) AAC makes good cans (Evolution 45 and Tactical) KAC makes good cans. (ummm....KAC 45 can? dont know the model) Those are all I have direct knowledge of. .45 is good because most rounds are subsonic already. No shopping around for slow ammo. No .45 cans (right now) will be hearing safe when shot dry. A wee bit of water/lube/gel will greatly increase performace and make it hearing safe. The next generation from most people will be hearing safe when dry....but those cans will be expensive and the waiting list long. I have a Evo 45, have heard the others I mentioned. You would be pleased with any of them. |
I totally agree. The HEMS II is hard to beat. Either on my Mk23 or USP Tactical...it runs smooth (and oh yeah, quiet) |

just FYI AAC is coming out with a new 45 can that is suppose to surpass all others. here is a link to some info. it is a dry 45 can but the cost will be somewhere around the same a the KAC can. price is really you defining factor I would say. gemtech black slide for the low end (no booster) AAc evo 45 or SWR hems II for middle of the road (price) KAC for top end or wait and see about the new AAC for very top of the line and Dry can. I have had the AAC tactical and it was nice (quite) for a 45 wet can but did FTE every now and then and other issues that I won't go into. It is being upgraded to the EVO 45 right now. I think that if I cound't wait I would go this AAC Evo or SWR H-II. The movement and impulse of the 45 is alot not to have some type of booster supported system. I think over time you will see that the non booster design will have an effect on some part of the euquipment wither can or gun. just simple thought: added wieght = more stress ... it may take 5000 rnds to show up but why not pay a liitle extra and have it last to say 9000 rnds. just my $.02 and that is coming from someone who had a boosterless can. I hope this helped. |

On a Glock 21 the Blackside was preferred to the Evo-45. Both are good suppressors but, the action of the AAC Evo-45 on that lightweight Glock was weird. The Gem-Tech Blackside was so light that it did not negatively effect the Glock's handling and of course there was no movement in the can itself to disrupt the recoil stroke. On the 1911, the Evo-45's movements were muted. The Blackside disappeard on the muzzle due to its light weight. The "best" can changed depending on which pistol was being shot with which suppressor and changed from shooter to bystander. |
