I have never had any experience with suppressors but have been looking over the postings here and have a few questions. I ask as I am considering a suppressor for my Walther P22 or 10/22. How much of decrease in report will I get from a typical can when I use sub-sonic ammo? Are ear plugs still needed? What is the best bang for the buck, so to speak, when looking at suppressors for a .22LR? Thanks in advance, CSP |

Ear plugs definatly not needed even with the low bidder 22lr silencers. Buy a good name brand silencer and both the p22 and 10-22 will be louder than a cheap ass spring BB rifle, but quieter than a pump BB or Pelet rifle. In the 10-22 your barrel will be long enough you will not want to shoot any High Velocity ammo to keep the gun quiet. |

Ditto what DarkHelmet says. In the P22 you will not need to use subsonic ammo for the bullet to say subsonic. Any standard velocity and bulk ammo stayed subsonic in my P22. In terms of (lack of) bang for the buck I suggest: Gemtech Outback-II: www.gem-tech.com/outback.html SRT Cheyenne XL: www.srtarms.com/22can.htm SWR Warlock: www.swrmfg.com/ProductDetails.asp?ID=17 Another excellent suppressor, but a bit more expensive is the AAC Pilot: www.advanced-armament.com/products/rimfire/pilot.asp Dave Brown |
The Prodigy is on par with the Pilot for size and sound (~40dB reduction). It can be disassembled for cleaning, while the Pilot is sealed. Mark |
My SWR Warlock using Remington sub sonics out of my P22 or MKII Pac-Lite sounds exactly like that, a CO2 BB gun. ![]() ![]() |
