In gunstore, I saw a used but not abused S&W 625 Stainless steel revolver. 6" bbl. .45 ACP. Full lug, Adj sights, Hogue grips. Has been professionally ported, and trigger work done. Single- and double-action take-ups and let-offs are about as good as you could ask for. Perfectly smooth until the fabled "glass rod" breaks. With Blue S&W plastic case. Asking price is $585.00 Your opinions, please? |
The blued steel N frames seem to be gaining value, not surprisingly. I may have to let someone talk me out of my 6" Lew Horton Classic Hunter Model 29 so I can afford a good 3" 629 to match the 3" 625 I already have. |
If you can, try to one that is pinned. Some of the unpinned ones (made I guess in the 1980’s) were pretty bad. However, I don’t think the .45LC was ever made with a pinned barrel. I also have a vague recollection that the first 45LC 25’s were inaccurate since the forward part of the cylinder chambers were smaller than the bore. I believe this was corrected at some point. Those cylinder walls are awfully thin! |
