just recieved a C&R ffl for  a 1911a1 I sold
Doesn't this need to go through a regular FFl?
when is it not a Relic or Curio?

I think so. Try going to the ATF web site. You might be able to find a complete listing of firearms that are C&R.
If you don't get a more definitive answer from someone else, err on the side of caution!!!!!!

What year was the 1911 made?

If it was made in 1942, I'm 99% sure it is C&R eligible.
