Thats a very tough question. The rifle was made in 1944. I would prefer one made during WWII just because. It depends on how much of it is original. Although they don't have serial numbers stamped on everything like European arms, they do have drawing numbers and other stamps to identify if parts were updated or changed. Even at that, the Springfield manufactured ones are the most common, so the prices are not as high. For your average run of the mill Springfield, in 90% condition, made from 1942 on, $800 is high and $600 is a good deal. This would be for an all military rifle, no commercial replacement stocks, and not having any collector value. There are rifles on the market now that are made from new, commercial receivers, and parts kits. The value for those are less, of course.
