I just bought a Benelli m1 super90 sinthetic stock from a guy at work for $450. It seems flawless on the outside but there is a small scratch in the receiver next to the bolt.. no problem.. he says it works ok. I have never had a shotgun and I was wondering about these.  Are they reliable.  Also, can I buy a shorter barrel for it for home protection?  Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like you got a heck of a deal.  I paid $900 for my M1 Tactical which has an 18.5 inch barrel and pistol grip.  I'm not sure about getting a shorter barrel for your Super 90 but I'm sure it's possible.  I would check the Benelli website
www.benelliusa.com/home01.htmto see if there are any links to dealers in your area.  You will have to order it and I hear that Benelli is pretty slow fulfilling orders.

Anything under 18" is classified as a "short barreld shotgun", and falls under the NFA.  You will have to pay the $200 Federal excise tax.  Benelli does make a 14" barrel for their M1S90's.

Benellis are excellent shotguns.  Just too rich for my blood.  And 18" is the shortest barrel you can have.

At $450 you got a deal.
