I carried a P226 with a TLR1 HL in a Theis IWB holster from 2017 until 2025. I have been carrying a Walther PDP 4.5 inch full size with a Holosun EPS and a TLR 1 HL daily ever since (also in a Theis IWB holster). I carry at 4 oclock. Wish I could do AIWB, just cant get comfortable with it. |

A full size G17, BHP or 5" 1911 ( My choices ) are super easy to carry in good kydex IWB holster under a slightly baggy polo, t shirt or tropical shirt. Full size pistols are generally easier to shoot well. Only hits count. If you are going to defend yourself carry what you can shoot the best. I will admit there are times when a pocket pistol is the best option but 99.9% of the time I can manage just fine with a full size duty pistol. |

One for issue M9 and other for M1911A1 I also took out of arms room (we always kept a few M1903A4, M1Ds, M1 carbine, M3A1 SMG and M1918A2BARs for training). Once there I discovered the 1911 worked just as well in the Beretta molded one but not the other way. Sosold the 1911 one after returning |

Smallest pistol I carry is a 4" M&P. The rest are full-size M&Ps, Hi Power, or 1911. Good holster, good belt. I live in a place where literally no one cares if you print or even open carry, but I do like a looser shirt as the pistol doesn't wear holes in them as quickly. |

AIWB/IWB? Largest is a G19.5, but quite honestly my favorite size for CCW is the P365/X/XL series. Much smaller size, but the X/XL frame or extended P365 mags, I can get an excellent grip and my drawing, handling, and shooting drills show very little disparity between those mini/micro compacts and full-size handguns. Optics also negate the benefit of having a longer iron sight radius. I really only carry full-size handguns in OWB holsters. The can conceal under a T-shirt moderately well, but if I do carry a full-size it's normally cooler weather a heavier layers. I really appreciate those who can carry a full-size handgun concealed, daily. I've just surpassed that full time need these days, but God bless those who do it! ROCK6 |
