I recently picked up a couple of Remington Range Buckets on sale at Academy. I've made the decision to begin storing some ammo in my garage (some may disagree, but after reading some arfcom posts, I feel comfortable doing so, if I do it properly).

My question is: can I store the Rem bucket as is in the garage? It seems sealed pretty good, but I've never opened one so I'm not sure how good. I'd like to know if I can place it in the garage as is or if I need to find an ammo can big enough for it.

I'd put it in the house to be safe. It's just a little can.

They seal tight and if it is like the 22 buckets they sell there are some small dessicant packets in there. Keep in mind the biggest issue with ammo storage in the garage is temp variations going from very hot to very cold which some people are concerned with , but military ammo in cans is left
Out in all sorts of weather and works just fine so I think there is a bunch of over thinking here

If you want to store it long term (10+ years) use metal cans in a temp stable area.

If you plan to shoot it anytime in the next ten years as long as you aren't storing it outdoors or underwater it really wont matter.
