Do you folks have any experience with the Century Arms C308 CETME or G3 clone.
I have read some reviews in recent Gun Mags with some positive feedback.
The real good price on them these days has me interested and i like everything in a 308 cal.
You guys out there in AR15.com are the source I tend to listen to for real world trials.
Any one get there hands on one lately.

Let me know your thoughts please.

Had a Century Cetme, have handled the C3.

Run away from them.

PTR cetme is what you want.

My century cetme had all the usual problems- head spacing forced by grinding material off the bolt, terrible for and finish...the cocking tube was bent.
The C3 was a complete disaster.

I LOVE the cetme- get a PTR from cdnn.

I had the G3 clone back in 2002.  The trunion was bent and the front sight was canted.  Had a smith correct it.  Other than that it was heavy and kicked like a bitch.  It grouped well though.

Best

Century arms has historically been hit or miss. Have you considered a PTR g3 clone? I had an early one that had problems but I think recent ones are pretty decent

I love mine. Had one slight issue where the cocking tube was a little tight causing the cocking handle support to drag excessively. Bent it out a smidge and runs great now.

I have one I recently bought from Aim Surplus for $619. It has functioned flawlessly with several different types of ammo so far, but I have only put a couple of hundred through it at this point. I haven't tried shooting for groups, just some plinking at the range. Extra mags are cheap.  Beats the hell out the brass.

I am under the impression that Century has finally figured out the roller-delayed blowback rifle thing. It's my impression that the newer C308s with the rail welded on the top is GTG.

I have a C93 (5.56 / HK93 clone) and it is my favorite rifle to shoot.

The century and ptr do not have flapper mag release. So changing mags is difficult

I would suggest waiting till the turks import the mke.

Hit or miss.

I have one that is a hit.

The misses are epic fails.

I had one, but for the life of me can't remember whether it was a Century or PTR (believe it wa Century).  Either way, it was a good one.  Functioned and shot well, was decently accurate, and a lot of fun at the range.  Did a great job of mangling brass, if you could find it...it would flat out chunk spent cases.  Brake did an even better job of clearing out people directly beside you, it was that obnoxious.  I liked the gun, but just couldn't justify a semi-accurate blaster that wouldn't easily accept an optic.

I am a Cetme Sporter VICTIM. Was actually my first black gun. I think the local gunsmith had it in his hands more often than I did. Lol. Discouraging for a 12 y/o.

Get a PTR instead. Just AVOID all Century Arms guns. That's my advice. Even their AK's. Mine had rivets falling out, and that was only a 74 clone.

I get this isn't the AR section... but I really don't think there are any practical reasons these days to not get an AR-10 instead of any of these old battle rifles.

You're largely right. I gravitate to "non-ARs" only because they're not boring as fuck. The AR based rifles are cheaper, as/more accurate, and plenty reliable.
