| I wast hinking about getting a sort of wildcat and I wanted to test the cartridge/barre/bullet combination out. Is there a product I could order that is reliable or repsentative of a 20% 10% standard. |

This info might be a little dated but a place to start.
The technical term is "250 Type A Ordnance Gelatin" which you can order from: Kind & Knox Gelatin P.O. Box 927 Sioux City IA 51102-0927 Phone (702)-943-5516 Fax (712)-943-3372 Local Contact: Lanette in Sales Minimum Amount 25 pounds at 10.41 per pound Plus Shipping $260.25 + Shipping In order to remain "calibrated" it must be kept at and used at 4-degrees Celsus. (Got a frige at your range? :-) Follow the instructions that come with the gelatin carefully. |

Isn't it, literally, just gelatin? If you arent' doing testing for the FBI, I imagine some plain ole Knox gelatin would get you more than acceptable results. :) If the goal is to approximate average human/animal tissue, that would not be nearly dense enough for the results to have any meaning. |

These guys have attractive gel prices in 10% and 20% composition: MAC recently used them in a video. |

here is a nice write up w/ pic on how to make gel w/ knox gelatin.
the biggest problem is getting a fridge big enough to set it up... well, might be able to shoe horn it in the fridge if my wife is out or something then I could shoot it in the back yard. seems like a project though.
ETA, here is the link http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Ballistics-Gel |

here is something called "clear Ballistics" gel. It comes room temp stable, in 10 or 20% concenration for either protocal.
I think it is like $125 for a big block of it plus shipping. I can be melted and recast, though it apparently darkens w/ cycles. https://store.clearballistics.com |
