10/22 maybe. Nice and inexpensive leaves you room for other cool tools. Also huge aftermarket for 10/22

Dude am I reading this right? There's no AR15 variant in you collection? Well that's where you ought to start. Prices are cheaper than when I got into guns 12 years ago. I've never seen good, quality ARs this affordable in this millennia. If I didn't already have more AR15s than I have space for I'd be buying more right now.

1911---Springfield Milspec
AR---either build one or buy one from a reputable maker, not Olympic or Vulcan
bolt gun---.308, .30-06, or .223
9mm pistol of some type
.30-30 lever gun---either older Winchester or Marlin 336

Since you don't have an AR yet I would suggest a lower from PSA and a mid length complete upper from BCM.  you should be around $700ish.

22cal revolver I like smith model 17 but a 22lr wheel gun is a must.

Or you could type properly from the start and avoid the hassle of confusion and the need to repeat yourself.

More 22lr for us. You're missing out being so tied up in the masculine bravado of powerful recoil.

Ruger Scout Rifle in .308 , should satisfy your recoil cravings!

Either an AK or AR.  As stated above AR prices are low.  Either will keep you busy buying ammo, magazines and something to carry them in after the purchase.

ARs are dirt cheap. They'll never be cheaper than they are now, unless you wait a week for another PSA sale.

The non-premium AKs, like PAPs and WASRs, have fallen back to mostly pre-panic prices too. You can find a solid PAP or WASR AK for under $600.

I agree with this, quality AR's are very prevelant and pretty inexpensive these days. You gotta have atleast one in the collection...

Had to go wrong with Colt.

Honestly. I'm not a guy who buys stuff out of fear or panic, but I do believe at looking at things rationally. A lot of guys are mentioning 30-30s and .22s. Yeah those are great. But they're not as subject to a fluctuating market as an evil assault rifle, ya'dig?
Good luck and keep us posted.

Within your $800 budget, I would say your best bets are probabily PSA, Spikes, Stag, Armalite etc. A quality milspec rifle with your gas system and stock of choice can be found around that number.

In for the dogpile! Yeah buy an AR15 next.

i guess i have to choose a an ar15 or a 30-30 man thats going to be a hard one
2/25/2015 8:34:08 AM EDT

Just noticed you don't have a AR in there I would definitely consider a AR.

Another vote for the AR.

You should be able to get a Colt 6920 at your local Walmart for that.  Great gun to get started with.

the walmart near sells shotguns and bolt actions for some reason

You can't decide between an AR of a 30-30? It's not even a decision. Go straight to your LGS and buy an AR. Get 10 Pmags. And a crap ton of ammo. Can't even really figure how this is a question. Buy an ar. Or maybe go ask the 30-30 forum.

I'm confused as well. This is a no-brainer.

i know its a no brain i just want to know if i would be more happier with an ar again or a 30-30 the over general wise

I would go with the shotgun.   Then an AR.

There are a lot of accessories for the AR, not much for a 30-30.

Man you got weird taste in weapons. I would like to suggest to you...

The Gibbs Jungle Carbine in 308

Hope I help to fuel the madness haha
2/26/2015 11:11:38 AM EDT
[#39]
Ruger 10-22

And

Ruger MkII

Should be able to "get both". Within your budget

when it came to me buying an m1 garand was because both my grandfathers severed
in the army one in ww2 and the other Korea and they both were issued m1's
and plus its a damn sexy weapon and the pistol part l i just felt like breaking the wallet out of not where thats all
i just a something else that fuel me gun wise thats why i ask a lot of questions im still kind of new to gun collecting

It sounds like you need to commit, brother. No one's gonna be able to answer that but you. I would highly recommend you buy one. Shoot it. Save up, buy the other. Shoot both. Repeat cycle. Report back here with findings.

It is great time to buy an entry level AR15 in that budget.  The market is very soft, so you should be able to find a lot of decent AR15 rifles in the price range.  Check out the EE.

Crap, the OP don't like .22lr firearms because it doesn't have enough recoil?  Ha!  Good for the rest of us shooting the .22lr version of 1911, Sig pistols, .22lr platform firearms, and .22lr conversion kits.

I would suggest getting an AR-15 rifle.  A good shotgun is nice like the Mossberg 930spx.  Then finally a 1911 pistol.  Many of these suggestion are in your price range.
