Hi All,
Yesterday I was doing standard maintenance on my guns (inspection, wipe down, etc) As I was finishing, I noticed an orangeish brown compound on the rail of my Mossberg 500. I was a little confused, as I always wipe my stuff down, keep it at a regulated 72 degrees and 27% humidity. I took a couple of pictures, one showing the substance, and the other after I used Ballistol and a nylon brush. It was not nearly as visible to the naked eye, as it is in the photo... i think the flash really captured it. Can you assist in whether you think it's rust, or a grease of some kind? Would rust have cleaned off as well as the 2nd picture shows? How do I know if it's rust or grease? https://www.flickr.com/photos/54136952@N02/16107041186/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/54136952@N02/15947811947/ |
