I've got several actions sitting here and no idea what to build. I want some suggestions. I already have a 30-06, 7mm STW, 375 H&H. Actions to use: Interarms Whitworth Mauser (Had been modified to accept .338-378WBY) Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless (standard length magnum) FN commercial Mauser m48 Mauser Large ring Spanish Mauser Turkish Mauser Small ring Spanish Mauser |

I can second this, I have a Ruger 77R in 250 Savage, great little gun from the bench and as a varminter. Quoted:
Build the small ring Mauser in 250-3000 (250 Savage). One of my favorite rifles is a custom Remington Model 7 in 250-3000. The perfect whitetail cartridge IMHO. |

M48 to .308 Win here. Looks like they are out of .308 barrels. I have an M48 and a barrel here looking at me. It's wondering if I'll ever finish it. (not for sale BTW I have a Turk Mauser here too that's going to get the .45ACP conversion...someday. |

The Taylor would work as it is. I'd have to get a longer magazine box to fit the Remington. I do like big, shoulder dislocating, magnums.

If it will fit, turn the Winchester into a .416 Remington Mag or a .416 Taylor. I do like big, shoulder dislocating, magnums.

| Try a 6.5x47 Lapua or a 6.5x55 SE. I've been looking at these for a good deer (plus) gun and they seem like interesting cartridges. If you wan't big and fast go with .375 CheyTac. It's a .408 CheyTac case necked down for a .375 projectile. Friend of mine has one and it's a laser beam at ranges you need world class, high power glass to even see a target clearly. |

I'd build the FN into a something classic. Either a 7x57 or a 6.5x55. I bought an FN Mauser 30-06 as a donor action for just such a project. Then I made the mistake of shooting it just to see how accurate that old ugly rifle was. Now I have an extra 30-06.and no donor action... |
