Asking for help on a brand new savage rifle in the new 17 super win mag caliber.  Its my first Savage so I may be in the dark but I would assume the middle part of the trigger is like a glock's trigger and acts as a safety and would require it to be depressed before the gun would fire, correct?

Any reason for the bolt to  "bind" on opening and closing of the action?   May have just got a total dud and need to contact Savage on Tuesday but if there is anything you could recommend to trouble shoot over the weekend would be appreciated.

Thanks

The accurelease is actually dual purpose but for your specific question, yes, you are correct.

How it works

As for the bolt, I can't help ya there. I've never had my bolt bind n my savage 3006. Since the rifle is new, I would call savage and make them fix it if there is a problem. That's why I've held off on pursuing the b mag yet. I want one bad but wanna give it a while so the bugs can be worked out of the rifles and so the availability of ammo will come up so I'm not having to sell a kidney just to get 1000 rounds.

Is the bolt bone dry or is there a light film on it?

Pretty sure it cocks on closing which makes it feel pretty stiff.

Watched a video by Gunblast and it looks stiff opening and closing, probably just the nature of the design.

Shot the gun today.  Everything I mentioned is part of the design and the gun is functioning fine.   Its all in the manual nd the entire receiver is a new design, hence my reason for the confusion

Thanks guys!

The lugs on the bolt are allowed to turn outside the chamber, if you apply downward force to the bolt as you push it forward the lugs will turn and bind on the action.

How does the gun run? What ammo are you using?
