I have always wanted one.
I know nearly nothing about them, in fact I have only seen 2 in my life. One was a Blaser that I bought but immediately sold it as I hated the action (cocking it was very hard on my broken thumb).
I am not looking for something too grand or exotic, I can't afford that and it will be a shooter so I want something in common calibers. A 12ga modified/12ga full/308, 30-06, 7mm or something else that I have the dies for would be best (I hate adding a caliber to that which I reload, too much time, cost, work).
New is fine, but it is very hard to even discover who makes them, used is also fine.

Any help?

You are thinking of a combination gun, like the Savage model 24. Drillings typically have 3 barrels, each one of them a different caliber, though it's also common for them to have 2 barrels of the same caliber side-by-side with a shotgun barrel underneath. To call them expensive is a gross understatement.

I am unaware of any combos currently being made, but the Savage 24 can still be found here and there.

Thanks for the info. I am in fact looking for a drilling gun (two shot gun barrels and one rifle)....12/12/308.

How much are you willing to spend?

Find a Merkel.

OH about 10k I guess. Rather spend less.

Look into Merkel.  From what I have seen, they are great guns.  The wood is usually nice too.

They are a good looking gun but they have a cocking slide... I think it's some retared Euro law or some shit. My left thumb was broken years ago and I just cant cock that shit. That's why I sold my Blaser combo gun.

I see u are opposed to some thing in a 410/ 28 ga w  a 9.3x72r caliber kinda thing, but in my area of ne Pa, they pop up kind of regular(lots of returning ww2 vets have died and they just want to liquidate the collection) so I commonly see them for around $4k with those kind of unusual caliber rifle barrels. I would think that would be enough financial expenditure reimbursement to invest in some weird caliber, get the brass and dies, and custom make whatever you wanted... just a suggestion....

You are thinking too small, you need a Vierling.

12/12/308 would be pretty unusuall.  Typical rifle calibers are either 8mm or 7mm as would be typical of European guns.  I suspect that 16ga is easier to find than 12.

Yeah I am sure I wont find it. 16 ga would be acceptable 7 or 8mm would also be fine but I prefer something I already load.

I really can't believe I can just order a gun from a Merkel, Krieghof, etc. dealer that has what I want. I wish there was a US company that made them.

A friend of mine was career USAF and he brought three drillings back from Germany. Two were 16ga/16ga over 8mm Mauser and one was 16ga/16ga over 7mm Mauser.  I know one was a J.P. Sauer, not sure about the others.  Beautiful guns, very cool design.

Don't overlook a good condition JP Sauer. I have this one left made in 1944 and is in 16ga over 8x57JR. All cartridges are still produced and easy to find.
