So I am thinking making an AR10 the next addition to my collection. Admittedly, for some reason I have really never considered buying one until I recently shot one. And since I have been kicking around the idea of getting a 308 for a while now, I figured why not.
So here is my question.....as I have never really looked into seriously purchasing one, I am curious what the prices were pre-panic? To make it simple, just assume basic Armalite setup......full gun? complete upper? complete lower? BCG? I won't be buying anything until all this settles down a bit, but I like to do quite a bit of research before I buy and was just curious so I am not worried about waiting a bit. And yes I searched ARF and google first and couldn't find anything but recent pricing. Any help would be great, thanks! Or if you have any ideas of something instead of the AR10, feel free to throw it out there. My current inventory includes Marlin 60, Winchester 94 30-30, AR15 obviously |

Allow me to urge you towards an Armalite for your AR-10. They offer a lifetime warranty, something that's worthwhile, IMO.
I have their flattop short bbl (18"?) with collapsible stock that I use for 3 Gun matches when I feel mean. Supurb accuracy for a short bbl in .308, IMO. My .o2 |

Ar-10s are nice platforms, no doubt in my mind.
However, (armchair commando mode) they will not function very well when it comes to hard use. They are dependent on lube to function properly, and may or may not work when you are shooting a metric shit-ton of ammo (1,500+). If you want a hard duty use gun, get a FAL or an HK-91 (PTR-91 is also a viable choice and a clone in current production). If you want to stick with an Ar-10 platform, prepare to shell out money. Good reputable Ar-10s that will work are H&K MR762 or LWRC or Sig Sauer's very own 417. Remember, for Ar-10s, KEEP IT LUBED AT ALL TIMES. Hope you get a 308 platform that you like. Good luck to you. |

Just so you know, I am not bashing the Ar-10 platform, I love it but I beleive that it is a flawed design. If I could, I would redesign the entire system so it can take all kinds of crap ammo, go through the mud/dirt/grime, and run like a dream. |

Can't say I've ever had a lube/cleaning malf with my Century frankenFAL, but I CAN say that hell of a lot less than 1500 rounds through my PTR-91 (Early model, before they changed the flutes), with no cleaning and no lube added sure brought it to a screaming halt. A good cleaning and lubrication got it running again, but I cannot imagine the AR-10 could be worse in this area. To be clear, this was an "A"prefix SN rifle. The ones that are supposed to eat anything without issue. At the current cost of .308, I cannot say if or when I can do the same test with my FAL clone. |

I have 5 AR-10s currently, a plane jane A4, 24 inch 10T, SASS, A4 carbine, and a 20 inch 10T. I have been running AR-10s since about 2000 or so. I have run high dollar ammo through them and some really crappy ammo. I have run the shit out of them suppressed. You have no idea what you are talking about. |
