I have a friend who has an original Tec-9.  Never fired.  He asked me what it was worth.  I haven't got a clue.  Anyone know?

$300-$400 not worth very much. I'd post it for sale at $500 and hope for $400 though.

I have one I am putting up for sale this week on a local gun classifieds site and this is what I plan on doing

I bought mine for $250 a few years ago. It works won't ever sell it. It just an interesting gun to own.

I like mine very much, although in reality it's an early KG-99. Especially after I did the NFA thing. Having a stock on it along with the fore grip makes it much more 'shootable'. Of couse the suppressor's fun too!

Original open bolt 12 to 15 hundred. The regulated closed bolt one after the ATF almost shut the factory down about 3 to 400.

This was supposedly one of the first.  Can you tell me how to know if it is an open bolt model.  The fellow who has this is dying from cancer and not all that helpful.  His family wouldn't have any idea what is going on.  So is there any easy way to spot an open bolt model?

Well that snide comment about shooting helps a lot, especially since the OP stated it was an UNFIRED sidearm

OP, do you have any pictures?  That would help a lot in determining if it's run of the mill or something more valuable.  Was he the original buyer?  Does he remember when he got it?  We could be talking from a couple hundred bucks on a good day (most likely) to a converted F4 MG worth a couple grand (exceptionally unlikely, but not impossible).  The more information, the better.

If the bolt flies forward when the tigeer is pulled it is an open bolt. If the bolt is already forward and you pull the trigger and hear the hammer strike it is a closed bolt.

That is one sexy POS.

I've got a Kimmel AP-9, which is similar. They look neat, and that's about it. Functionally, they leave much to be desired. Parts are a real bitch.

I had the AP-9 and a few TEC-9s over the years and never managed to luck into one that would run reliably (even though I know there are some out there), finally gave up on them altogether.

Ironically, I ended up with two TEC-22s that run very reliably... and those have an even worse rep than the 9mms.

I've got one in the safe as well. Surpisingly works quite well with good mags. But it's missing a front sight... rear sight...threaded 1/2x20...

I asked for a picture but when you have advanced cancer this isn't his first priority.

They are neat weapons and letting any firearm go is hard for me, even this one which I have had no jamming problems with, but I can't see it doing anything a G19 with a factory 32 round mag can't do

Been thinking about something like that. My concern was concentricity being off, either with the adapter or the factory threads. However, seeing my .22 can is a TAC-65....

Mine didn't fire reliably either, but I found a mag for it, the original one that came with looks like someone did some cutting for some reason, and after I worked on the extractor a bit, will fire reliably. It really likes Wolf 9mm I have not idea why, WWB sometime will have issues.

caehrnst, this is the second time you've violated the rules here.

I'm not going to give you another chance. Find the big red button that says Conduct Code, and read it.

It would have been more appropriate and understandable if you hadn't phrased your first "warning" sarcastically and under my screen name!
Had you sent me a message personally or commented under your administrator screen name, and not acted like it was me saying that, I would have understood I had done something wrong!!! And I wouldn't have repeated the violation!

Your going to need to clarify what violation I have made. The conduct code states: "Posting of someone else's personal contact information."
I posted my own information... NOT "SOMEONE ELSE'S"
Maybe it's time you go through the conduct code again, because you are wrong! & I did nothing wrong!
