Anyone use one of these? I'm looking into getting a .17HMR rifle, and this fits my price range. I looked at the Savage, and it seems the same thing, only slightly more expensive. Reviews online seem to be positive...

Also, if this is the wrong place, I'm not sure where else it would go...

I have a Marlin 17V that I like very much.  I need to get some quality mounts and glass for it though.

I don't personally own one, but a shooting buddy of mine has one, and that thing is a death-ray on any small game inside of 150-200 yards. I've shot it some, and it's a damn fine little rifle.

I got mine from wallyworld for less than $200. Observations: mine has the scope bases so cockeyed I had to take them off and use tip-offs The mounting stud on the barrel is so loose I could push it out with my finger I still playing with the bedding after I shimmed the mounting stud tight. My advice, spend a few more dollars and get a Savage.

not going to knock it, it was what I was shopping for, unless I got a good deal on a savage 93. I did end up getting a savage. The marlin had a grittier trigger, also didn't come with rings and bases. So for me it was kinda a wash. The accutrigger is really nice.

edit- my dad has the marlin, and it is nice to shoot

I was shooting my Marlin 17VS today.   I glass bedded and pillar bedded my rifle and it shoots great.

The barrel stud is supposed to be loose ravinluna. Mine will easily slide around but stays put when the front barrel bolt is tightened.

The small tomato I used for a target today vaporized on the first shot!  Small game requires head shots for the same reason.

Mine is a laser beam(917VS).  Have killed lots of small game with it.  I am going to have to buy another because Hagmommy has laid claim to mine and I don't get to shoot it much anymore.

Well, picked up a Marlin XT-17VR. I mixed up the gun models and Bi-Mart only had this one. Oh well. Took it home mounted the replica Leupold Mk4 3.5-10x40 scope I have for my airsoft bolt action and went to the hills.

I set up a make shift shooting bag and set to sighting it in for roughly 50 yards. It took me about 30 rounds to get it dialed in...

Than I set to seeing what I could do with this. I'm no precision shooter by any means. This is the first scoped bolt action I've ever had. And again, it's using a cheap REPLICA scope that many people say would turn a firearm into sawdust simply being that it's meant for airsoft...

Getting more used to it, my group got a little smaller...

Alright, enough of the 5 shot groups. Lets see what a 20 shot group looks like...

I think she's a keeper. Free floated barrel from the factory, adjustable trigger down to almost nothing, and a Glock-like trigger safety. I'm very happy with my new investment...
