What is too long, too short, and just right?

I saw Trijicon's TA01NSN on their website, and that just seems to darned short to be of any use.

Eye relief is the word you're looking for. Sight radius is the distance between the front and rear iron sights.

The TA01/TA31 series have very short eye relief. That's the trade-off for compact size and light weight. Ideal eye relief is up to the end user, but on most scopes it's not much of an issue.

I think the OP is referring to he emergency battle sight on top !

Anything is better than nothing in a fight! I have used the emergency sight on a SUSAT sight it's crude but will get your rounds in the Parish as they say in the old country

Aha, forgot about that.

Like Badger66 says, anything is better than nothing. You won't be doing much precision shooting, but it works for man-sized targets. The TA01NSN actually has windage adjustment on the BUIS, which is good.

They are about as long of a sight radius as a pistol.
